    Interesting..

I went offroad and I haven't felt vibration yet since my truck is on stock height, no lift. I will consider to replace that next year.

I have seen vibration on the SR5's hood on '16 and 17' models years ago. Did your hood have vibration when you got your truck as new?

Nope I haven’t noticed anything wrong with the hood. Hopefully it stays that way!

That’s crazy! I’ve definitely never seen anything like that.

I noticed that on the hood during test drive. So I got TRD instead.

Hahah sorry man! Didn’t even think to ask. It seems like it has significantly improved the ride quality. I’m kind of surprised honestly.

Nothing to be sorry for. I was just offering a way for you to save money. Doesn't matter to me though. I can always find something to fiddle with that's already around the house.

    Well I appreciate it anyway.

I was sure that the loud vibrations I always feel between 30-40mph were my Grabbers. Now I think it may have been the needle bearings going out. I will have to drive it a lot more to get a better feel for how much better it is now.

Maybe my tires haven’t been the problem this whole time o_O

Greetings everyone. New here, sold my 1.5" lifted BMW X5 diesel and I'm picking up a 202 TD Pro tomorrow in NC. While the BMW did great for minor off road stuff, we want to start doing tome BDR trips and it just wasn't ideal.

I've read through all 41 pages of this thread and I really like the practical build of your truck Road_Warrior. I was thinking of running a 265/75r16 since I do a lot of long distance trips, so I'm glad to see them performing so well and still getting good fuel economy.

What speeds are you typically traveling at when you achieve those 20+ mpg averages? in my BMW I could see 30+mpg if I kept it under 60mph, anything over that would drop MPG pretty quick. I'm really going to miss the economy out of the diesel, but it's time to move on.

Hey, welcome! Thanks for the kind words. I usually get those MPGs that are above 22mpg when I’m driving long distances with the cruise control on, between 55-60mph. I usually drive pretty conservatively because I do a lot of long distances like you…so I want to keep the fuel costs and wear & tear on the truck to a minimum.

I saw 22 mpg..once . My pops has a short bed and gets milage similar to yours, crazy what that little addition in bed space does for the long bed.

Oh that’s interesting, I never considered that long beds and short beds might get different MPGs!

Hey, I found you around TW while reading other threads. Just curious, what photos of your truck specifically have a 2" front lift and 1.5" rear? I am hoping to keep SOME factory rake but reduce it a little, going 2" front, 1.5" rear, just so if I load the bed I don't have the bro-lean. Thanks man!

Hey man, here are some pics from when I was running the requested setup:

    IMG_6531.jpg IMG_8077.jpg IMG_7800.jpg IMG_7791.jpg

I eventually dropped the Bilstein 5100’s down a notch so it’s a 1.5” in the front now. When the front was at 2”, the truck was just barely level and if I parked at a certain angle it looked like the front was higher than the rear.

So that’s why I dropped the front to 1.5”, because at 2” I would immediately have the Carolina squat as soon as I put any gear in the bed. Here is a more recent pic of the truck with the front set to 1.5” for comparison:

Did a little over 1,300 miles in the truck this weekend. These things are like the Swiss Army knives of trucks.

Nice man, appreciate it. I went with a 2" Spacer lift in the front an 1.5" rear block. I'm hoping it's level or slightly raked out in the rear (from what I read, it should sit .5" higher in the rear if factory rake is 1" higher in the rear. That's why most people go with 2/1 or 3/1 level kits. Like you, I don't want the carolina squat anytime I load my bed so hoping it's perfect. I know spacers suck btw. This is my 3rd vehicle, only use it to putt around town for my business and sometimes go down a dirt road or two, mostly doing for looks and I hear if it's a really tame 2" lift, shouldn't have any issues.

Thanks again, your truck is beautiful

Thanks for the kind words! A lot of people do hate on the spacer lifts but I ran them for a long time on my previous truck and then this one (before my Bilsteins). I never had any issues with them and I had the Rough Country spacers both times. I think they’re a perfect budget option for the exact use you mentioned.

I hope it works out well for ya!

Tundra is a great vehicle... Kevin Costner's truck is black as well... His truck was at SEMA years ago. I consider to get one. If that is in case, then I will use Tacoma for off road only.
