Lol, nice! It’s a shame I’m not content enough with mine as it is right now for that goal

I tend to go through spurts of feeling like I need to do a bunch of stuff and then I leave it alone for like 6 months and just drive it.

I think a lot of that comes from stuff I learn during the “just drive it” phases in terms of figuring out what I could improve or change.

I also needed a new cabin air filter so I decided to spice it up and get something different than the past 5 or 6 ones I’ve used. We’ll see if these work as good as advertised…

Next thing you need to do is come down here to get it shining properly!

Also, we could knock out the sound deadening. I did it everywhere except the roof on mine.

Oh nice!! How long did the sound deadening take? Do you feel like the results were worth it? I know it’s very labor intensive.

It's a full day for sure. The sound deadening helps a lot, but doing the sound proofing foam on top of that makes an even bigger difference.

Plus, you can get Noico brand for both for roughly the same cost of what just boommat or dynamat by itself would cost.

I’m impressed you did it in a day! I feel like I’ve read stories from people saying it took entire weekends. That’s smart to do sound proofing foam too…I hadn’t considered that.

Well, I split it up in a couple days. I did the doors one day and did the floor and back wall on a different day. But I did it all solo, so having a second set of hands would definitely speed things up.

That makes sense for sure, how long did each door take?

Maybe 1.5hrs. If that. The day I spent on the doors wasn't even a full day. I also stripped the interior and was shampooing the carpet on the same day. Then spent the next day doing the floor and back wall while the carpet dried.

Dang you did the floor too?? That’s impressive. I bet its super quiet in there even when you were running mud tires.

Thank you, but no. It's still quite noisy. Between the wind noise from the roof rack and everything else and the driveline noises coming through the fj shifter it gets fairly loud. So that's why I also dumped a bunch of money into audio...

Ahh yeah I can totally see that. Idk if you read my older posts in this thread but that’s why I ditched my Prinsu almost immediately. As soon as I drove for the first time with that thing on the roof, I immediately regretted it. I don’t think I kept it for more than a couple months.

If I still used mine as a daily I would remove my rack as well, but I would probably also change a bunch of other stuff too. But since it is a dedicated trail rig I don't mind the noise to have the extra parts storage that the pelican case allows for.

If you get cheap secondary reliable vehicle, then you wouldn't worry about truck noise issues everyday. So you use secondary vehicle as daily driven. Then weekend comes up, you take the truck out for trails.

Roof rack noise doesn't bother me. I like the rack for more storage and carry things such as kayaks... plus I plan to add tent on there soon since winter is over..

I am planning to add lights on the rack rails so they can shine onto the ground all the around except front end.

While I was looking at gears, I got a quote from they said 1500 for labor and will take owner brought parts. I think the kits are about 1500 and that’s not cryro’d or polished.

There’s no noise issue now, I just am interested in how much more quiet the sound deadening could make it.

I like driving my truck too much to get a second vehicle haha

That’s not too bad! I think most quotes I’ve seen all-in were in the $3K-$4K range.
