Related question…when you mounted the 33’s did you have to immediately do any trimming? Or could you get away with around-town driving without damaging anything.

The only trimming I did was at the bottom of the back wheel well, the circled part. I only rub at full lock in reverse sometimes.

But again, I have SPC UCAs adjusted and the wheels moved forward in the wheel well.

Gotcha gotcha, okay thanks. That’s exactly what I was wondering.

I ask because I scheduled an appointment at my off road shop for the end of the month to do some trimming and an alignment on the new tires. I want to get them mounted sooner but I’m going to wait because I don’t want the truck to be un-driveable for a few weeks if there’s too much cutting that needs to be done.

I doubt that it would be undrivable but better safe than sorry. I’d hate to be the one giving you bad info.

Did they say what they will be trimming or just ready to if needed? They might be able to align without any issues. You may or may not still need the cmc to not rub in full reverse.

Yeah right now I just have an appointment for an alignment and I’m hoping that will be all I need, but they said they will do whatever trimming/cutting is necessary if the alignment doesn’t fix everything.

    I’m just hoping I don’t need a CMC. I shouldn’t but I’m only at 1.55” of lift and my wheels are a -10mmm offset soooo…fingers crossed lol

    :fingerscrossed:

I think you should be good and only rub possibly in full locked reverse. There are times I have full locked and don’t rub. Just depends on if the truck feels like it or not.

Okay cool. I’m just itching to try these bad boys out lol.

Maybe I’ll get them put on a bit earlier then, it’s not the end of the world if they rub at full lock.

So are you keeping the MT'S as well and running two sets or are you ditching the MT'S already?

I’m keeping them! I loooove the Maxxis MTs. My ultimate decision will depend on how much I like these new Geolandars, but I could see them being my first foray into a 33” and then eventually I switch back to the Maxxis MTs in a 33” once these Yokos wear out. That would give me time to save up for a re-gear which I would need if I went to the Razr MTs in a 33 since they’re pretty heavy as you know.

I was on the fence about switching the MTs out because they’re my favorite tire I’ve ever ran, the Labor Day sale is what really made me pull the trigger. Also an AT will be a lot easier for the upcoming trip.

My wife suggested keeping the new AT’s as my road trip tires and then using the MTs when we aren’t on long trips. I’m considering that as well, I just don’t feel like spending that much on a second set of wheels.

Look for a set of stock take offs. You will know they will fit and will likely be able to be purchased for less than half of what a fancy set costs.

I ran 2 sets for years. All the way until the truck went to the dedicated trail rig status.

Charger got traded with about 130k on it, first ram was traded with about 115k on it and I am coming up on 60k with the current ram.
