Clean VHF/CB radio installs

your guys installs are so good!
I'm regretting getting such a large cb now

quick question:
I have a Uniden CB and it uses a 3pin 2 wire power connection



Has anyone seen a 90 degree angle connector for this 3pin plug?
I shoved my radio in the din slot below my stereo in my 1st gen, but this cord is making the Uniden unit stick-out about 2.5 inches further than necessary
I cant find one anywhere, I was so sure someone would make one lol

 

Theres a vetco in Bellevue , Wa that is a magical land of everything electronic... if u live in Washington you could go talk to those guys or if u call them they are usually very happy to find the thing for the job. I think they ship as well? Careful tho if u walk in there... that store is dangerous... I walked in for a cable and walked out with a new soldering iron

 

Can I buy 2. 1 for each side??

Yeah lemme know when u find a mount for that location. Have the relentless fab mount which is really nice but with my 2 foot antenna I'm thinking I would have better luck on the back of the truck

Haha they are alright. I'm not fabricator. Just a beginner but I make it work. I made one for @Coot83 before I had my house up on the market. Try c4 theirs are nice

 

No way they removed it from the website. Chipped my paint on the tailgate. They refunded my money. I threw them out. Junk.

 

Ha I just sent them an email right before I saw this post to see if they still make em... I looked at the tailgate and it seems like a super simple job, only problem would be getting something that is sturdy enough for big antennas but can still get by without chipping paint like you mentioned.

 

Right it's such a right space that you can't use thick metal but thin metal flexes. I have paint missing too

 

I tried bending straight. Going further back. Coming more forward. Nothing. It's just the last little bit. It hits. No good I tell u no good.

this is how I make them if you are willing to try it out. Its really easy. I went to home depot or lowes I forget, and grabbed 10 guage steel 3 ft by 3 inches long. but all you really need is like 6 inches of it.

 

I wish I could of been around for the creation of mine, but was equally excited I didn't have to fab it!

 

I did this. The c4 mount rubbed my tailgate raw too.

 

Looks good. Never thought about doing it that way with the softopper. Your pick makes me hungry!

 

I wish I could bend and weld metal with my mind..... someday.

I'm sure I could probably take these pics to a shop that has the tools and they could bang it out pretty quick. Thanks for the pics!

Do it. I used a pre bent piece of galvanized steel from home depot, trimmed and painted it. Total cost is less then $10.
