I spoke to Japan from NY on 10 meters legally back in 2000. HAM radio is something else. Got my DXCC and WAS too finally!

If you're on the interstate, in Nebraska or Texas where it's flat and there are no trees, yes CB can reach just barely over the horizon. But if you want to reach out over hills, mountains, forests, 20, 30, 50, 500 miles away, you're going to have to get your ham ticket and get a serious radio.

I upgraded my scanner speaker to an Icom SP-35. A littile bigger than the cheapo speaker I originally went with, but sounds a hell of a lot better. It fits in the same area without any modification and the mounting holes in the bracket line up perfectly with the machine screws I had for the other speaker.

As I said, the sound is much, much better. This speaker has a heavier magnet and I can clearly hear the difference. I should have bought this in the first place instead of trying to cheap out.

I have that same cobra unit and had it mounted like that in my pathfinder. I used to keep the mic in a stuff sack and shoved between the console and pass seat.

Where’d you grab power from underneath the seat?
.....I was considering mounting mine under the center console.

Is your antenna at the passenger side rear?

Any issues running the cable at the cab or bed?

I ran power from a Blue Sea fuse block in the engine bay through the firewall and under the carpet through the hole that is used for the driver seat wiring harness.

As for the coax, I ran it out the grommet that’s underneath the driver seat and along the frame and routed it up behind the driver side taillight to the antenna mount attached tot he tailgate latch.

I have since removed the mount and antenna because it got in the way of opening my camper. I think I’m going to switch to a non-ground-plane setup and mount it to the camper.

    Thanks for that!
I figure that the CB draw is so low that I can tap into the 12v power outlet in the console without any issues.

I saw somewhere on here, that for the best signal pattern the antenna should be either left front or right rear.
Dead center would be the best spot.

Ah, I had 2 open spots on my center console, so I put in a rj45 and a CB power on button.

Installed Cb on rear of the center console via a Molle Panel/Rack. This mod will not allow you to extend the bottom passenger side seat forward/upward. On a 2 gen the Drivers side rear bottom section of seat will still extend forward as will the back rear upper part of the seats. (Both drivers and passenger)
Thoughts on this? The only thing stored under the passenger side rear seat is the bottle jack which I do not use anymore! All tools are stored in accessible compartments. I just didn't want it up front taking up room!

I assume by your response that the speaker isn’t mounted on the C pillar like I thought it was.

It's mounted on the B pillar, so mine is the only head in danger if the seat mounted airbag doesn't do it's job.

I’ve been thinking about mounting mine to the c pillars. Maybe that’s why I interpreted the pictures like that.
