My trucks been acting funny every now and again last month. It's a 99 Tacoma with the 2.7/5spd. It will run fine and then all of a sudden it will basically lose all power like it's getting choked out or no fuel. I was going 30 mph on the hwy down from 70 the last 15 miles home, when I got home made few calls ate some food and picked up TB gasket, it appeared to be normal once again power wise after I turned it off and it set for an hour...The TPS isn't plugged in now either just so everyone knows I have been running my truck since I bought it like that and that makes it idle a little high, but that's not the problem totally since I replaced that and it still didn't fix anything. The truck idles better with it plugged in, but is not driveable once you start going through gears it just jolts and skids and stutters. My engine light is on and throwing that TPS code still even with the new TPS plug. So I read the throttle body, maf, iac valve cleaning thread and decided to tear into that and clean it all with that seafoam deep creep cleaner. I was not able to get one of those damn Iac valve screws off so I wasn't able to clean that part, I did make sure to hold it the right way as to not let all that gunk slide down in there from the throttle body. Put everything together and I notice it idles VERY high now, and kind of makes a whistling sound like it's sucking in air when your driving, I've never heard that sound before. I don't know if that's just because everything but the iac valve is clean now. I took it for a drive and seems to be normal in the power department. Just did tune up with wires/plugs/air and fuel filter, new battery/alternator couple months ago. My truck does not have a tach either but from the sounds of it, I bet it's idling around 2K which is just ridiculous. Anyone have any idea at all on what's going on or where to start next? Computer and my TPS clearly aren't working together so could that make it just run like shit whenever it feels like or? Done that no power, 25-30 MPH thing 3 times in last month or so now and I've had truck for 9 months and no previous issues like that. It's always idled a bit high since that TPS was never plugged in, but it's never been any kind of trouble as far as driving ability/power goes, I can deal with a 1000-1200 idle but a 2000rpm idle is just crazy to me.

Any other small do it yourself things I can check or replace myself? Truck is only throwing the 1 code with the TPS, I replaced that and still no different, actually worse when plugged in and not even driveable, still throws the code. Maybe a wire issue from the TPS? I'm not a mechanic at all, just trying to do everything I can without taking it to TOYOTA and getting raped for $100/hr

Anyone have the wiring schematics or know where to get one online so I can trace the wires from the TPS to the ECU??

Usually a high idle can be caused by a vacuum leak especially since you said you hear it sucking/whistling. Check all your vacuum lines for cracks/leaks. Could be an intake gasket as well.

Intake gasket is the throttle body gasket no? I'll double check all that. Thank you.

Check for vacuum leaks. I'd pop the TB off again and really get into that IAC. There are so many nooks and crannies in there you won't be able to clean unless you actually pop the valve off the TB. Probably not the cause of your problems but I guarantee the IAC valve is filled with grime.

    Again, probably a vacuum leak.

This what it's saying...I cleaned the EGR with deep creep seafood and unhooked the negative battery cable to. Light was off and truck was running OK and then 20 miles later the light came back on. I've been reading about deleting the EGR...I don't need to pass smog so I don't care, I just want my truck running good and the engine light to come off lol.

TPS code is very common and is rarely a TPS. Check for vacuum leaks...
