I purchased my 04 Taco TRD from an auction..the engine and bay was filthy with dirt, dust and grime..in lieu of using chemicals or a power washing..I used Simple Green, a small bristle brush, a cheap paint brush, microfiber rags & a spray bottle of water & a lot of elbow grease..took about 5 hours.

The way you went about it, is MUCH better than using chemicals and a hose. I need to do mine as well.
I've had some, advise me to use the pressure washer. HARD NO on that idea.

Looks great! Simple green is awesome.

Why won't you use a hose? I just spray all grime with simple green and let it soak for at least ten minutes, scrub with a brush, cover the battery with a bag, do a light rinse with hose with engine running and then just leave the hood open with engine running for a bit before turning it off and wiping away any remaining water. I've never had any problems but I definitely don't want to cause damage by using a hose or light pressure washing.

Use a steam cleaner. Supposedly works MUCH better than any heavy water type method.
