Mine is usually pulled out of the garage right before I wash it. So the engine is cold but running. If I just got back from off-roading hardcore I wouldn't spray it right away, but my buddy does every time on his big 454 and it hasn't cracked yet.

I myself just donate about 4 old terri towels to the job and set there with a bucket of plain hot water and a repeatedly dampen a smaller terri towel and just get all meticulous with detailing. Once a year. Even had a Toyota mechanic compliment its cleanliness.

Because you can fuck your engine up while its running.

and why do you even need to have it running to wash it, that's just wasting gas.

I was worried about washing it for the first time too, but it turned out fine. I threw a plastic bag over the battery and the alternator, and stuck a piece of duct tape over any obvious electrical connector. I was probably over-preparing, but made me feel better. Sprayed it all over with engine degreaser and rinsed off with a hose. Never had a problem. Only took about 15 minutes total and looks a lot better.

These or the auto zone ones are just fine. No need for anything fancy.

Valid reference you used there. :roll eyes:

And wasting gas? I bet I use less than 1 cup in the time it takes.

Meanwhile don't bother arguing because I don't have any proof in writing, only word of many mouths. You just have ignorance.

Engine off, if water does get into an electrical connector/connection it'd be better to have it dry out before you put juice through it and blow a fuse or something. Would you wash anything else with electrical parts and connections while its running? C'mon now...

Small amount of water in the intake is not bad at all. Actually pretty good. Water is a good way to clean the combustion chamber.

If u clean ur engine wile it's hot u have a good risk of cracking the block. Happends all the time with people washing dirt bikes and quads.
