So I was cleaning my truck the other day and noticed a collection of the black marks all over the truck, more specifically near the tires where mud would kick up. These photos were taken after the truck was cleaned, and the marks would not come off the paint. I attempted to scratch the marks to see if it was paint missing, but after several seconds of working on the spots, they would begin to smear. I am not driving around on any melted pavement or anything that stick out for me. I am curious if anyone else has these on their vehicles, and if there is a good way to remove crap like this or if I am SOL. :frusty:

Prob road tar. Should be pretty easy to rid of with tar remover.

Road tar, I get it everytime I drive up to phoenix (they are doing all kinds of work on I-10), should come off no problem with some soap and water, as long as you had some sort of sealant / wax / etc. on there prior.

    A few.
Looks like tar. A little wd40 or kerosene and a rag will usually work also.

After you get it cleaned up i advise you to get and keep some wax or sealer on your paint. Especially that bottom half. Can make things like that wash off easier.

Will do! xD Wax will definitely remain a part of the cleaning process.

A clay bar will take off almost any paint surface contamination. Give your truck a thorough wash first. Use it with clay bar lube and follow up with a good grade polish/wax.

They are super effective and probably one of the safer routes to take for your paint finish.

Acetone or 3M "wax and grease remover". (Which by the smell of it is pure acetone) dissolves and wipes it off like magic.

I still prefer it over Dirty Tucson where I'm at. 3 more weeks and I'm home free back to IL.
