When I bought a past Nissan the paint felt like sandpaper. Called a detail shop, and they told me about clay bar.

Checked out some YT vids, and gave it a shot. Took damn near all day...wash, dry, clay bar, wash, dry, and wax. That was the directions on the kit I bought.

Was worth the time, car was slick as glass afterwards.

Just spent about an hour looking into clay bars, waxing vids, etc. and am gonna probably try out the Mothers Kit, with the Speed Clay 2.0... Watched a few reviews on it, and I hear its as good as the normal clay... so I guess we shall see... Gonna order things tonight, and try them out on my next weekend.

I think I bought mine at Walmart. I got an extra bottle of detail spray too.

I use to use the left over piece of clay on my old Wrangler windshield.

WD40 will take that right off without damaging the clear coat.

I'd definitely try WD or bug and tar remover before going the clay bar route.

Just because your truck is so new, and I couldn't see clay baring part of a truck / car without doing the entire thing.

Stuff works great, but if you can use something else and just wipe the black shit off, you'll be saving yourself a lot of time.

    ...stuff
I get these on my ambulances a lot... I just get a paper towel and throw some foaming hand soap on it. No water. Comes right off in about 9 seconds

In my opinion using a clay bar would be a bad idea. Coming off the road that tar probably has dirt and rocks in it which will then be embedded in the clay and get dragged all over your paint. I would use a chemical method to remove the tar first. Diesel fuel, kerosene, mineral spirits, WD-40, bug and tar remover will all take that off without harming your paint. Then use the clay bar and wax.

WD 40 will take that right off, be sure to wash your car afterwards and apply a good wax there. I've found that if you get a good sealant/wax in that area it makes removal 10x easier.
