what should i spray inside. Id like this to last me a long time. It spent its whole life in Massachusetts and was undercoated by toyota in 09 and it is a 2004. The frame external doesn't look terrible but like i said when i stick my finger in there i can feel chips.

Take it to the dealership for inspection. Toyota should cover a replacement frame if need be.

What sucks is if its borderline and theres no holes they won't replace it. wich means in a few years after the warranty expires then ill be in trouble.

Some of this Some of that
After toyota undercoated mine i filled the frame with rocksalt and watered it every once and a while….. i figured the undercoat would only delay the corrosion until the warranty expired. it worked pretty well after two years….. was probably ready for new frame after one year actually

I had same problem, flakes inside frame. Small dime size hole on right side, front leaf spring area. I took to Toyota, they said "Sorry", previous owner did not do frame treatment. I had hole patched over at welding shop and blew out all flakes as best I could. Made up a concoction, with wax rings , non detergent oil and mineral spirits. Plugged all openings on frame and pumped it in , about gallon on each side. Then opened up drain holes. Over a year later I can stick my finger in there and it's still tacky and doing great. I love the truck, but Toyota should have stood behind all these frames.

Why would that of mattered if the previous owner didn't do the frame treatment if you have 15 years from the date of manufacturing?

Have been doing digging and it seems like if the undercoating was done it will extend the frame warranty for an additional 15 years. Is this true?

I don't think so! They told me they could not help me because the previous owner, did not take truck to dealer to put frame treatment on. Dealer wanted to do it! They are paid by the factory when they do warranty work, but Toyota would not approve mine.

If dealer did your undercoating before the cutoff date. Your probably good to go.

If the truck was inspected and treated with the thick CRT (corrosion resistant treatment) tar by a Toyota service department before the December 2010 deadline (December 2011 only in NY) that frame is most definitely eligible for replacement until 15 years after date of manufacture.

These frames rust from the inside out, so if your feeling big chips on the inside, I'd imagine the frame is on it's last leg.

First thing you should do is verify that Toyota has a record of the frame being treated prior to the Dec. 2010 deadline. Take your VIN and call Toyota Service, or go to the ToyotaCare website, and type in your trucks VIN# to view all service history performed by any official Toyota dealership and you should see an event where the CRT was applied.

If you have had the coating prior to the deadline you are entitled to a free rust check up every year until that 15 year from manufacture warranty expires. Meaning you can bring the truck in once a year and they will inspect the frame for perforation ( hole exceeding 10mm = replacement).

Tip: Only once you've verified your frame is under the warranty; take a ball peen hammer and tap around the base of the frame, particularly near the leaf shackles looking for soft spots. If you do find a soft spot and want to expedite the eventual, do what I did and put the hammer through it.

I've been through the process and had my 2002's frame replaced. All of this information comes directly from Toyota with whom I'd spoken in depth with several times about this service campaign.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions you might have.

just called toyota and i have till nov 2018 for the frame warranty.

she said she couldn't give me anything saying that in weighting since it will be re issuing a recall and they can't do that.

Clarify that last part? What is it that Toyota can't give you/won't do?
