I was washing my 2019 TRD Pro this morning and noticed a few circular spots on my hood where it looks like the clear coat has started cracking. Has anyone else experienced this/know what might have caused it?upload_2020-5-1_16-42-14.jpg

Could be tree sap. Can you scratch it off with your finger nail?

I’d take some really hot water and pour it on... allow it to soak and then dab a wet microfiber (warm water) on it and see if it starts to losen up.

Gave it a thorough washing to see if it would lift, even broke out the buffer but to no avail. It’s not textured to the touch, feels like it could be below the wax finish.

That's a bird shit stain and its eaten through the clear. A professional can try wet sanding and blending in some base coat and some clear, then more wet sanding and polishing. Then you may see it but its a gamble repair. However the best thing to do is let a body shop fix the damage the right way or you can use some touch up paint and a little sanding and polish.

You could try getting it fixed under warranty. Worst they can do is deny, but they may fix it as a good will gesture.

It's chemical damage whether originating from bird shit or a thousand other substances. Not warranty, a professional should be able to repair it.

Similar happened to the roof on my tundra after 18 years....claimed it was a combination of the stronger quebec washer fluid, and age that caused it.

I frequently walk around my vehicles (especially in warmer weather) to spot areas like this early on. Early detection and cleaning will greatly reduce chance of permanent damage.

See your local customs shop, get paint correction and ceramic coating (at shop or do yourself) so that all of the nasty stuff that comes into contact with your paint will practically rinse of.

Also stay away from car washes with rollers; only do touch less or power wash at home. I had an extensive network of spiderwebbing and it wasn’t worth paying for the paint correction without adding the ceramic coat to protect it.

Bird shit. Same exact thing happened to a Honda I owned when my 90 hour work weeks made me lazy with the car washes.

I have seen it eat through the best ceramic coatings out there on some nice vehicles.
