I wonder how many people have BBP but have not noticed that their paint is even fading. This reminds me of the blue Silverados in the 80s with the paint coming off all the way down to the primer. As these BBP trucks start to age, I think we will see a lot more of this.

I think that has something to do with why they cancelled the color for 2019.

Not nearly as new. My 09 Paint started flaking off on the hood, and drip rails in the engine compartment. Painter told me bad prep. I wax this truck a few times a year, and couldn't believe the pain could come off in sheets like this. Just had roof, front pillers around the windshield, hood, and drip rails which included blending in the front fenders. Can't really tell. Looks good. Mine is almost 10 years old, and probably have taken all the loss of price already. Yours is new. Unless you plan on keeping the truck like me, you will take a hit, when you are ready to trade. The dealer needs to suck up the rest of the paint cost to keep a otherwise happy customer. Toyota needs a recall on this issue. Best of luck getting this resolved.

Wow! That sucks. I got a '16 TRD Off Road, same color. I haven't seen any signs of that with my paint, but I got micro scratches all over the place. That's cus of the car wash. When I bought the truck, I spent an extra grand on the protective coating, can't remember the name of it. I wonder if I wasted my money.

That is correct! The price I pay for convenience. Brushes are like sandpaper. Someday I gotta go to a detail shop to make it good.

Yeah I never go to car washes unless it’s a hand wash place and how many miles does your truck have ?

If I had a 2017 BBP, I'd be keeping it outside until that showed up so I could get it taken care of within the warranty period. It's definitely a problem. Sure seems like there's enough with the issue that Toyota should take care of it well after the warranty period however.

Why didn't they lemon it for you? Seems odd they'd put 3 transmissions in a truck.

I dunno... I just got to watch that odometer til the warranty is up. Toyota's aren't cheap. I believe what you pay for is stellar service. It's always red carpet treatment when something is wrong. People I know who own Dodge's seem to get frustrated on the other hand.

Mine is a '16. First year with new technology. 4.0 to 3.5 liter, 5 speed auto to 6 speed auto. Trial and error. Hopefully the later years are more dialed in. But like I said in another post, Toyota warranty does NOT fuck with you. They fix the problem. That being said, as long as the SERVICE continues to be what it is, I'll continue to buy tacos.
