Planning a trail run on March 12 (Saturday) up in the Mondecino Forest - Clear Lake area (about 100 miles north of Sacramento), have a couple of friends and co-workers coming with. But thought I would extend the invitation out to TW members too. The trails are pretty easy. Plan to run about 40 miles of trails with lunch about half way through.

I called the Forestry service up there and they said all the trails are open. They said it has been wet with light dusting of snow. That's why I figured I would do the easier trails up there. I forget the names of the trails I am doing and my list is at home.

I got a book "Back Country Adventures Northern California" so I have just been going through it finding trails to run. Found a bunch I want to do this summer in conjunction with some camping.

This sounds awesome.... I'm a noobie to off roading with a stock TRD OR. I know you said the trails are easy, but just want to make sure that a stock truck can do it.

Also, what time do you plan to hit the trails?

A stock truck will be able to do it. I am going to have everyone meet at the Black Oak Diner in Vacaville (by I-505 and I-80) at 700-730. Maybe grab breakfast and on the road by 830-900. From there it will be about an hour in a half to two hour drive to the trail head. However, we are moving the fun from Saturday to Sunday. Hope that isn't a problem. We are suppose to see rain all week. I will monitor the weather throughout the week. If it still looks like rain on Sunday I will leave it to the majority if we are still going to make the run and make contact with everyone Friday or saturday.

I will post up some pictures for you. But I plan on doing all sorts of trail runs this spring and summer. I will keep you in mind for the next one.

I'm down to do some exploring- would love to get to know the area. I'm also riding factory but have 4x4 so this is up my alley.

Should have confirmation by late week, but would also prefer Saturday if possible.

Most the people in the group already can't do it Saturday so Sunday was the only option. I like Saturday better too. But unfortunately Sunday the 13th is the day. Let me know if you are up for it. The more the merrier.

You bet. I know one of the trips I am planning for this summer will entail overnight camping.

Not a problem. Right now there is about 5 vehicles going. 6 if you can make it.
