    Fabtech suspension lift, Body lift
    Hello all,

I recently picked up a 2001 Tacoma xcab 2wd that came lifted with a Fabtech suspension & body lift. It currently has BF Goodrich AT tires in 33x12.5x15 mounted on what I think are 15x12 rims. I want to mount those tires on a 15x8 rims that have 3.5" back spacing. My question is would I have any rubbing with the arms, frame, calipers, etc? Don't really like the current set up with the 15x12 rims. Thanks.

Here are some pics for reference...

Only certain 15" wheels will clear the calipers on your truck. Go to discount tire direct and type in your info for your truck. The list of 15" wheels that are available should fit with no clearance issues. I'm running 15x8 black rock d window ally's with a 4" offset.

Holy cow! Are your spindles resting on the coils or is that camera angle?

I have a set of 15x8s already. I will stop by the tire shop and have them install the 33s and do a test fit. Thanks for the info.

The spindles have clearance. It looks like the upper ball joint is almost touching the coils. They have about a 1/8" clearance... How do I go about fixing that? Thanks...

That don't look like camera angle to me, I see a coil pushed up against a ball joint, and the UCA looks in the "down" position.

    I'd start with either:

    1. Some aftermarket spindles that would fit the lift
    2. Some aftermarket uniball UCAs
    3. Get rid of the lift.

Recommend doing some research on your part. Kind of hard to tell how bad it is just from pictures and I don't know enough about that particular lift to give specific recommendations.

Does it clunk when you go over bumps?

That's what I'd do, I think a 6" lift without serious money thrown at it is a waste and it brings the center of gravity to dangerous levels. These trucks are narrow.

I got the 15x8 (3.5"BS) rims mounted and it has enough clearance. Thanks.

Satisfied with how much it sticks out the fender as compared to the previous rims (15x14) the 33s were mounted on...

I found the culprit. It seems the original owner stacked spacers on top of the Fabtech coilovers. Over the weekend I plan on removing the spacers and see if that brings back the clearance on the ball joints and control arms...

that will make a huge difference. Glad you found a solution that doesn't require $$$. Does the rear have a similar height block between the axle and the springs?

The wheels look good, tucked up closer to the body.

It has a block and an add a leaf. I plan on removing the add a leaf, maybe that will even out the look once I take out the front spacers....if it doesn't I will remove the block instead....Thanks...

The front IFS geometry creates roughly a 1.5:1 lift ratio. Measure the top plate spacer, muliply x 1.5 and that gives how much lift the spacer is giving you. If the rear block is roughly the same height might be easier to take that out.

Just a thought to ease the workload.

Little this. Little that 4x4 Swap’d PreRunner
Take out the block instead. You'll be happier with the AAL than keeping the blocks

I may take that route. Looking at the pic below, I would guess this is the lift I have. So the original owner added a block in the rear and spacer up front to get that added Franken lift..

I removed the front spacers. Definitely a big improvement in the ride and brought back the clearance I needed between the ball joint, coils and UCA...:D

Thanks. Yes the ride is a 100 times better then before, but still on the firm side. I lowered my tire pressure to 30psi. Maybe I'll try 28psi.....

Here is a pic with the front spacer removed and the rear 2" block. Now gotta work on removing the Body Lift some time later...

3" lift EIBACH coils w/ 5100's front, OME/ Dakar leaf springs w/ toytec adjustable shackles at 1.5" and 5125's out back. 33x10.5x15 KM2's Relentless DIY steel bumper.
That looks much better! Good job finding the culprit of the UCA'S hitting the C/O! IMO our trucks look best with around 3" of lift. When its up to 6" it just doesn't look good. I'm also looking for some 15" wheels that will clear the calipers and whatnot.
