Has anyone ever tried some plastic scratch remover on the notoriously scratched dash plastic in front of the speedo/tach? If so, did it work, and what did you use?

Lots of folks have had success with installing the film screen protector over the plastic effectively hiding the scratches and preventing further ones.

    It works somewhat…
If you just want to improve it- you might be pleased
If you are OCD- replace it

Anyone tried Polywatch? It’s actually made for clearing up acrylic or mineral crystal watches.

In my 2017, i ended up replacing it. In my 2022, i bought a replacement piece of plastic, but i bought the screen protech kit. It actually hid the couple of light scratches I had.

Meguire's PlastiX Clear Plastic Cleaner and Polish works good on my 2nd gen instruments but the 3rd gen faces seem to be exceptionally soft. Bottle says: "Removes cloudiness, yellowing, oxidation & fine scratches. Safe on Plexiglass, plastic convertible windows, motorcycle windshields, helmet faceshields, boat windows, CD's. It works well on my instrument faces. It doesn't remove everything, but it doesn't make it worse either. I used it on my dull 3rd brake light with good results and the headlights as well.

We used a similar product to clear the bugs off and polish the plastic aircraft windshields pre-flight. If you used anything else, you'd get in serious trouble with the mechanic(s) and maybe kicked out of the club.

Try it on a small spot first. Do not use it on any touch-screens if you have them.

Screen film is your friend takes 10 minutes to install and all scratches disappear or at least mine did. Big plus you can clean screen to your heart’s desire after install with no worry of scratching it again.

Where do you get it? Link? Does it come pre-cut or do you have to cut it?

Screen ProTech - this is pretty much what is the standard on the TW website. Comes pre-cut to speedo bezel. Can also get radio and shifter screen protector as well. I bought a 2 pack, used the speedo and shifter one, got it right on the first try. Not cheap, but def worth the money!

my first detail job the guy scratched my dash plastic, and I read on TW about Novus-PK2-2, Two part: Plastic Clean & Shine #1 and Fine Scratch Remover #2 and comes with polish cloth. It worked perfectly. Amazon $9.50 Thank you TW for that post. Hope this helps.

I've only treated mine once, but it doesn't take much to scratch'em. And I used a fiber cloth, who knows what the detailer used... the kit includes a super soft cloth though.

Update; I tried the Novus 2 part scratch remover and it did close to nothing. Yeah, I guess it’s a little better but not much. Still plenty of scratches when the sun shines on it.
