This thread is where we can post odd things we do that make our lives easier and most people may not know.

    Two to start:

    1. annoying splinter. Put a tiny bit of krazy/super glue on a toothpick. Pointy end or flat end depending on size. Press it to the splinter. Wait for it to dry for a minute or so. A tiny bit of skin might get pulled off, but the splinter will be out!

    2. Stirring natural peanut butter: warm it in hot water or microwave first before stirring a new jar then refrigerate immediately.

Pee in your pump sprayer all winter, spray it on the lawn when the snow melts.

    Hi Sam,

Around here, there is an unwritten rule, that threads such as yours get posted on Fridays. ;-)))

And the other thing, by posting such a thread, your post count does not increase (in case that was your intention).

    Beg to differ.

    This thread is

    1) in the correct forum

    2) was not a question those of us with opposable thumbs went 'huh?' over, nor is it a lunatic rant over some meaningless tidbit.

    3) has potential to reveal some interesting and useful tricks.

@SamS I am hopeful. So here is my contribution.

When starting spark plugs in a recessed well (as most are these days) fit a length of vacuum hose over the top part of the porcelain. You can't cross thread the plug, because the hose will spin when the plug gets too tight. Yet you can easily feel the plug fit, then take a couple of turns correctly. When it stops, just pull the hose off, and use your socket to turn gently until you feel the crush washer collapse. Another 1/4 turn and you're good.

Lawn enthusiast helpful hint. There is no substitute for power. Buy more lawn equipment than you think you will ever need.
