click/clunk after 5100

    when I go over a speed bump, or a similar bumo offroad, my front shocks are clicking/clunking, where should i start?
    I just installed my 5100's fyi

    Go back and check all your ball joints. See if any are locking up.

    5100's at 2.5 stock coils. i was in at the shop today and the guy showed me how much wheel play I have, so my tie rods are both worn.
    I just replaced my steering rack bushings, could this have anything to do with anything?

    Deckplate mod, Trueflow drop in filter, clear corners, 31 BFG A/T on 15x8 Mb Razors.
    You can check your tie-rods...if it does have play. Put your jack under the control arm. Lift the tire off the floor, then grab the tire and wiggle it. Feel for play and determine where it's coming from. If you can, grab the tie rod with one hand and with the other hand wiggle the tire. This will help determine if it's inner or outer tierod. Squeeze the bellows boot and try to feel the ball and socket for play. You can also check you ball-joints; with the jack under the arm, use a prybar under the tire and lift up and check for movement on the ball joints. But the clunk only happened after you installed your 5100's??

    ok so i took my tire off to feel around and make sure everything was tight, and I found I could move this (outer tie rod end?) back and forth with my hand, and when i did that, I could hear metal hitting metal. is that normal? remember i had my steering rack off for the bushing install the day before 5100's.

    I don't think that's normal. I was just checking my tie rods for other reasons, and they are solid. No movement at all.

    before i go put my wheel back on, anyone have some more input?

    oh, and both sides I can move it with my hand...
