Hello all. Looks for some advice. I had 4 Yokohama Geolander A/T G015 tires put on my truck yesterday. Driving around with the windows down I noticed this clicking noise. In this video you can hear it around 9 seconds and 16 seconds. I have checked all the lugs and torqued them to spec. This really only happens around the 10mph mark and between 20-30mph. Haven’t heard it at all when slowing to a stop though. What do you guys think? I don’t know if it’s a wheel weight hitting something? I’ve looked at the weights and none appear to be scuffed up from hitting something

Edit: can’t get the video to attach

By any chance did they use balance beads instead of actual wheel weights? Never usually hear them at 20-30 mph in the cars I have seen using them but never seen them used in a wheel as large as the Tacoma either

Doesn't necessarily mean they didn't dump beads in there anyway, but assuming they didn't there isn't much a competent person could have done to create noise while installing tires. Was anything else serviced at the same time?

That’s what I was thinking, there’s no reason for the noise. It was just tires

Best bet is identify which wheel it is coming from, jack that corner up and spin the wheel to see if it is occurring that way, might find something dumb such as a slightly bent shield behind the rotor. They could have managed something like that while removing and installing the wheel to the truck. If in the rear, maybe they pulled drums to check shoe life and something managed to fall into the drum when put back on.

Uhh maybe a dumb answer or too obvious, when you have something done to your vehicle, and something is not to your liking, why don't you go back to the shop instead of going on a forum or trying to diagnose yourself ?

Not a dumb question! Got the truck back late Saturday, they’re closed on Sunday, and I was back to work today (Monday). Haven’t had a chance to yet so I figured if it was something simple that I could just adjust or take care of in my garage I’d do that before taking it back.

A little? But it was like this before hand. And I dont think the guys at Discount Tire would have messed with the spare (I didn’t get a new spare).

A good shop will check your spare for proper pressure. The chain might be hanging because of that when you had the new tires installed. Maybe just do as others have said and tuck it back up or tie with twist tie or zip tie or wire.

Are your wheels hub or lug centric? Friend had new tires installed & they lost one of the hub centric rings. Wheel kept loosening up & making noise until they found the issue.

Update: Took the truck into a different tire shop today. They were able to locate the tire and the noise. Turns out the shop that installed my tires last weekend dropped a metal Camaro SS valve cap in my tire and left it. Also the shop today found out that all 4 tires were very badly out of balance. Needless to say, I will not be taking my truck back to the first shop (Discount Tires).

Had wondered if something fell into the tire, glad it wasn't the pressure sensor!
