I have a clicking noise coming from the front passenger tire that speeds and slows with tire rotation but goes away when I apply brakes.
I recently replaced the brake pads.
    Any ideas?

Check the tread. It could be as simple as a rock wedged in the grooves or a screw, nail, staple.......

If not something wedged or stuck in the tire, then probably need to go back to check your brake work.

I'm hoping its my brake work. I don't think its something in the tire as the noise goes away when I apply the brakes.
I'm just hoping its not a wheel bearing.

I would check the brake anti rattle clips, honestly I don't recall if 2nd gen tacoma has them or not.

Wheel bearings dont click, they groan, and eventually start making a grinding/scraping noise if not replaced. Definitely sounds like brake work

Would the clicking from the brakes speed up as tire rotation speeds and decrease as rotation slows?

If the noise is related to the brake job then yes.

    Working on that
Hate to sound simplistic, but a rock stuck in the tread will mimic that sound.

If it was a rock in the tread it would not go away when braking

Dealing with the same thing myself. Did you end up resolving this issue? I'm hearing a clicking from the front driver side wheel, with every rotation of the wheel. Loud until I get above about 30 mph - mainly hear it in my neighborhood with the echo bouncing off houses. Noticed the clicking will stop when I apply the brakes.

Took it to a local shop and had the guys check it out - they thought it was a messed up axle, but that wasn't the case. They said my pins were sliding out of my pads on my passenger side wheel. They just noticed a bunch of brake dust on the driver side - they cleaned that stuff out. Noise went away for a day and its back.

Any update on your end with this issue? Having the same issue, jacked up my tire and rotated didn’t make a noise. I also took the center cap off and no luck.

I did a couple of threads about this. It's probably either the spring on the brake pads, try replacing it or adding a second one, or if you just did brake work you probably forgot to put a thin coat of brake grease on the back of the pads so that they stick to the caliper.

Ended up taking my truck back into the same shop and recommended that they apply an extra pad clip, as recommended by this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/tick-tick-click-click-from-front-brakes.582633/

That was on Friday, 6/17. Drove it all weekend and so far, so good. No clicking noise whatsoever. Shoutout to that guy above in the thread link^

I actually already have two clips. But I will have to check this out as the sound does sound about the same. Thank you!
