Hello Tacoma community, I recently discovered my Tacoma’s transmission makes clicking noise when I shift it from park to drive first time of the day ( meaning when I first start it for the day) but after that it disappears. Anyone else experience this ?

Any play in the shift handle?

No nothing it’s amazing . My Tacoma runs excellent and shifts like a dream. Is just that the noise is when I first shift it from park to drive in the morning.

Does the click sound like it’s coming from inside or outside of the truck?

not sounds like it’s coming from underneath so outside I can hear it. And it only occurs when shifting from park to drive.

If it sounds like it is coming from outside, it might be the brake pads shifting in the caliper, or drive line slack.

Does it do it if you keep your foot on the brake, and sift from Drive to Reverse, and then back to Drive?

I noticed my 21 TRD off-road does this also.
