After scouring the forum and google searches I have yet to find anything about this.

    I installed Bilstein 5100 adjustable's on my 03 double cab pre-runner 2wd 6 months ago.
About 2 weeks ago I have developed a clicking/popping sound over small bumps and uneven grounds like shallow gutters or speed bumps. No feeling or vibrations. Just a click at slow speeds over anything uneven.

I only seem to hear it when the the front suspension is dropping back down after I have gone over something. I'm going to take a look at it this weekend, has anyone had this issue before? Any ideas on what I should take a look at first?

    Appreciate the help

The popping you hear is most likely ball joints upper ball joint or both upper and lower joints. The new lift added extra strain on the suspension.

ball joint failure can be really bad. Make sure you check those.

when i hit a bad dip and my front end extends completely, my upper ball joint actually makes contact with my spring and plucks it. no damage but still makes a bad noise. that could be it but unlikely. more likely is you need either new ball joint(s), tie rod(s), sway bar link(s), control arm bushing(s), or rack/sway bar bushings. another possibility is you need new motor/tranny mounts. or there could just a loose bolt somewhere allowing a slap to occur.

My truck (2nd gen) was doing this and the lower control arm bolts were loose. Started after an alignment. I torqued them to 100 ft lbs and it's all good now

Thanks for all of the input.

Pudge, it's interesting that you mentioned yours occurring after an alignment. Mine didn't start until I took mine in for an alignment as well.

I'll run through all of the suggestions and keep everyone posted.

Just a quick update, I torqued over everything you listed to 100lbs and it the sound has stopped. Thanks it was a huge help.

I'd still like to maybe replace the upper and lower ball joints anyways since my truck has 225K miles on it. What do you guys recommend?

Should check for play/movement in your ball joints. but if they are originals at 225k, I would think it's time to replace.
