Clicking sound and lunging forward when shifting to drive

Heya!

I got a 2021 TRD Sport DCLB with 7500kms. I've been noticing when I shift into drive the truck makes a clicking sound and it slightly lunges forward. It happens randomly (hot/cold engine). Just wondering if I should be worried or its normal? Going to the dealer next week, and I'm going to ask if they could check the tranny fluid. Thanks for the input! Cheers!

 

The "lunge" could come from just not being on the brake enough. I've done that a few times.

As for the "click," I can't say for sure since you haven't posted a video or anything but these trucks are known for "pad slap." The brake pads can move within the caliper. Due to the motion and pressure, you only hear it after switching directions or moving forward from a stop without brake pressure (i.e. shifted into park.)

 

Definitely keep on the break whenever shifting into drive or reverse. The truck also does an ABS check around 3 mph after going from P to D that causes a clicking sound from the front passenger side.

 

This! You are the 1st person to say this other than my service manager. (About the ABS waking up) But yes OP that is what the click is. My truck does it everytime after start up. AS far as the lunging forward or backward, mine did that for awhile. It don't do it anymore.
