I see that NAPA part NOE 655-2283 is an actuator. So this is what needs to be replaced? I thought it was the servo motor that needs to be replaced?

An old trick with the Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe guys, was to just turn that broken tooth gear 180° so it uses fresh teeth.

If you pull up the Napa part number, it doesn't look like the correct part? Did Anybody ever try this out?

I have an 05, when I pulled the part out, it looks exactly like the pic for the Napa part. When I tested it, it seems to be running all the time, when I turned on the Recirc, it just reversed the direction in which it runs. I opened up the unit and everything is intact. Is there a short in the motor which make it run backwards, that creates the clicking? I just want to make sure this is the problem before I proceed...

It is made to run all the time, keeping pressure on the door. That is why the gear teeth break when it gets older and brittle.

If you have clicking, are you sure you do not have a broken tooth on the large gear, or the spindle is not cracked?

I looked for part 52411441 and could find on parts log in Rockauto.

Is the NAPA part the correct one? Mine just started clicking today.

    thanks,

    Hello,

I had the same issue, I cross referenced the Toyota #52494371 part I removed and found a Dorman 604-109 is a direct replacement for the Toyota recirculation blend door actuator. Delphi (GM company) is the OEM for Toyota on our trucks so I decided to use a AC Delco replacement part as I believe it will be higher quality than the Dorman and nearest I can tell is the OE part originally installed by toyota with their part number (and $187 dealer cost).

I paid $34 on Amazon for the AC Delco #15-73513 which bolted right in and has been working well.

SO the following all will work:
    Toyota #52494371 ($187 at Sealership)
Dorman#604-109 ($48 at local parts store)

    AC Delco#15-73513 ($34 on Amazon)

Here are some links that were helpful for me getting my repair completed:

Good luck! Also if you have large hands its a tuff install, I had my girl friend help and here small hand now not only make me look larger than I am (LOL) but also helped with the install.IMG_1972.jpg

SquashAZ…your instructions were spot on for my situation. I ended going with the Dorman part(obtained from AutoZone) since Amazon couldn’t overnight it. Even though AutoZone’s web site indicates this part did not fit my truck, it did. As you mentioned, small hands are a plus!

For what it’s worth I bought Delphi actuators twice a few years ago to replace ones whose motors had burned out on our former Buick Enclave. One was the temp blend door and the other was the vent selector. About $60 a pop. They worked great. I wasn’t about to spend the $120 or so each the dealership wanted for OEM.

Probably a crappy part, this guy went thru 4 of them to get one that didn't do that.

This just happened to my truck yesterday. I’m thankful for this thread. TW is such a great resource!
I’ll probably try to get the replacement part this weekend and knock it out.

My question is, what is the actual OEM Part Number?

    87106-04060 https://parts.camelbacktoyota.com/o...meT0yMDA4JnQ9cHJlLXJ1bm5lciZlPTQtMGwtdjYtZ2Fz

    OR

*EDIT* Called the Stealership… the correct part number for my 08 is: 86106-04050

So, if it’s hot or cold that’s an indication that it’s not working properly?

No, ignore the writing on the picture.
You want to feel the actuator when it’s clicking.
I used that picture to show what the actuators looked like.

Does anyone else hear ticking noise coming from the mouse wheel for the HVAC? I also find my fan output speed seems to be really weak anyone else have this issue.
