I'll try it tomorrow when I'm not turning the steering wheel and see if it happens.

Either one or both if separate(s) should not be difficult, the rubbing its most likely just in need of trimming right there where the steering wheel is, I've seen it before just not on Toyota.

I second this request. Who in the hell is gonna replace a transmission because of a clicking sound? Come on dude. TW tall tale sounds like to me.

I brought it in for service today and the tech was perplexed. He said it sounds like a spring dropping. He wasn't sure how to even write it up. Anyway, hopefully I'll get some answers once they get in there.

I'd be calling corporate every damn day until your dealer is forced to fix it lol..

My dealer basically said the same thing for a minor oil leak until I wouldnt leave corporate alone about it. Mind you, an oil leak is a bit bigger of a deal.. principal..

I have the same thing. Doesn't seem like anything to worry about. I've got almost 16k on it now. Also, clicks when rolls backwards in drive. Most likely related to the traction control.

Maybe i need to try harder. I called corporate. They put on me on hold and called the dealer. They came back on and said the dealer said no. I asked to prove it. She said no. The dealer said no. That went on for 10 minutes or so until I was too pissed to continue.

Ok, so apparently all Tacos do this. Or at least ORs and Pros. The service tech had a couple of other techs listen to the sound. One drives a Pro, the other an OR and they we're like, "Oh yeah, our trucks do this too." They said is was something with brakes. Weird. Anyway, apparently nothing is wrong. :notsure:

My buddy is a Toyota master tech and I asked him about this when I first got my truck. He said it's the breaks and not to worry about it.

Probably would have been helpful for the salesman to point that out.

He said it wasn't a problem. It's just the breaks releasing or something along those line. He said they were designed to do that.

I said ok and moved on and I've got 30K on it with no problems.

It really sounds like a relay clicking. Mine does it as well. My steering wheel also rubs on the plastic piece over the steering column, that and the damn door rattle are driving me absolutely crazy. I'm gonna feel really dumb asking the dealer to fix them.

The brakes do a thing too, right after ignition but before the "click". I can feel the pressure release but the click comes later. I think it is 2 different events that may or may not be related. I really think the click is a relay. Just going with "the brakes" does not answer what it is. I'm just glad it isn't anything to worry about.
