So driving today, realized it's more of a binding/creaking when turning. Not loud or prominent, but with windows down you can hear it. Also heard some minor thuds/clanks when turning on uneven pavement but maybe thats normal depending on what terrain you're on. Hopefully the guys Thursday can check it out. Sounds like I should tell them to check the rack and pinion, make sure all is tight with the UCA/LCA and check the CVs.

Isnt there something in front end where you have to lower the truck so the full weight is on the control arms before you tighten the bolts?

Perhaps when you had your alignment done they broke the bolts loose in the air, then tightened them back up, then did the alignment. The noise over bumps being the control arm bushings binding.

Yeah thats why i'm asking for suggestions to have my guys look at when its in the shop. Basically, I got an alignment from Midas and the guys were looking around my JBA UCAs asking "where is the adjustment, its just that bolt right?". I said no they aren't adjustable, and just use the regular adjustments on the LCAs. So yes, its possible those guys screwed something up or didn't tighten something up again. Last time I go there. They acted like it was the first alignment they ever did. And the noises over uneven ground was when i was turning the wheel standing still; not even moving up or down where the suspension would cycle.

You just steepened the angles of the CV joint with the tires. A lift has been working at wearing it out sooner than stock height. The oversized tires were the straw that broke the camels back. Anyone with a lift and/or oversized tires ALWAYS needs to expect earlier wear of CV joints. It's the price you pay for whatever reason you need the modification. Not that it's bad but it's the cost of having it that way.

And you know this for sure how? MANY have had the same setup for much longer, with much more abuse than me and are fine.

Also, how does going up one size in tires affect anything? the hub/wheel is still in the same spot... not like I got more suspension lift to increase angles. Serious question, in case I'm missing something (that wasn't meant to sound antagonistic)

To be clear you're saying the noise is there even if you turn wheel but the truck isn't moving? I'd be looking at tie rod ends, the rack, etc. if that's the case. I've only ever heard CVs make noise when they're turning.

Correct, even at a stand still. Its minor... doesn't sound like something is about to come apart. More like a creaking sound that isn't that loud. Like an unlubed bushing/bolt or something.

Tires shouldnt change the CV angles, a suspension lift will change the angles, but tires literally just move the hub up higher. Now it can be said that tires will increase the forces on the wheel bearings, but they dont do anything to the CV angles.
