I don’t understand the whole quick getaway thing. Regardless of gender, nobody wants to be kidnapped or messed with so. If you are locked in a shell then who can mess with you? If you are that scared, buy a gun or have a knife. Chances are very high most campers have one or both of those.

It won’t be quick having to climb through rear window either. The attacker or attackers would most likely have the drivers side window smashed while the would be victim is still trying to shimmy through.

Guns are cool and all, flamethrowers are even cooler.

Honestly it really doesnt matter what window you get. You arent getting through it fast enough. You need to have a gun with you.

OP, if you are petite, I can see being able to get through the truck rear sliding window. Truck caps have options for the entire front window to fold down into the bed. Useful for cleaning the truck's back window as well.

Not every scary situation is immediately a clear self-defense situation where a firearm should be deployed. Too much fantasy, not enough reality, among other things.

There are situations that arise where someone is harassing or otherwise putting people, such as OP, in a tense situation, but not an immediately clearly life-threatening situation. In these circumstances, people like OP may want to leave/create distance, but do not want to have to expose themselves to the perpetrator to do so (such as exiting the camper outside and moving to the driver's door).

OP, unless you can fit through the stock rear window, you may need to get a custom solution by a local glass shop.

Life changing loud without hearing protection. As in, your hearing will be messed up for life.

Wait, you're telling me a firearm isn't a magical talisman that will ward off all evil? Heresy.

Too many cowboys on this forum who've spent countless nights awake dreaming of all the ways they can deploy their supressed 300 blackout AR pistol out of their secret quick deploy rear seat hidden stash after they've donned their plate carrier and (notional) NODs.

There may only be one time in your life where you will need a gun and no other item will do. I carry everyday because You never know when that day will be.

I'm not going to myself or my family in a position of helplessness when that day comes.

If you aren't comfortable packing then don't, your choice.

FWIW, I'm 5'5 and around 140lbs and I was able to crawl through the sliding back window when I got locked out of the truck

For full-timers there's value to being able to bail even when not in the middle of the woods, such as dirtbagging in a neighborhood or rest area. Also areas where you don't really want to be firing off rounds.

Your options from cheapest to most expensive:
    • Lose enough weight to fit through window
    • Bail on window idea, have pepper spray handy
    • Learn how to use a firearm
    • Custom window swap?
    • Sell the truck and buy a van

Have you ever dispersed camp before? When I'm in the middle of butt fuck nowhere and a stranger comes knocking in the middle of the night and his kid isn't dying you sure as shit bet your sweet little ass that a firearm is warranted in that situation no matter what is intent is

no one says she should come up firing..........way tooooooo many rambo movies

    yet

getting to a strong defensive position inside the camper or cab is requisite

many times the ‘ perp ‘ as U say has already scoped the scenario to their advantage

scurrying from 1 locattion to another is NOT a plan

If the situation rises to the level of I need to squeeze through a window because of a person threatening me then that is when my firearm is pulled out

I am not driving away to allow some other unsuspecting camper be attacked.

part o my defense drill is any/ALL students must fire 3shots..........................NO ear protection( real world )

adrenalin allows that many dont hear the shots.................from another gun or their own

does result in long term hearing loss

they should KNOW what a real gun sounds like

    offense or defense

I like the stun gun idea. Def not pepper spray in the camper shell. Could get an infrared camera
    https://www.amazon.com/FLIR-Infrared-Camera/s?k=FLIR+Infrared+Camera

got my moms one last year. You can make out what things are out there in the darkness. Its pretty awesome. Had to get one for my house too.

    Welcome aboard!

That "Boot" used to be common back in the day with cabover campers.

it snapped in with a bunch of buttons and it sealed the gap between camper and truck bed.

Can you fit through a cat door? It's kinda like that.
