Clip for door latch actuator rod

The clip that holds the rod that goes from the inside door handle to the latch mechanism has broken, leading to an annoying rattle. I think the part number is 69749 but on various parts suppliers websites, it just doesn't look right. Anyone have a source?

I rigged this part one time, temporarily, with a zip tie. Worked until I found one.

 

Auto zone and oreilys has a little multi pack of these....different colors and varied....
each store has slightly different multi pack..... so I bought em both.....

 

Perhaps this will help, though from parts list for 99-00, not 01. Clip/parts numbers are different for passenger side and driver's side; we found these part numbers switched:

 

Use a zip tie for the clip and wrap the rod with a split piece of 3/16 gas line. It’ll last forever …

 

Thank you! I actually went the zip tie route for now and since it's working, I'll stick with that until it doesn't, then do it with the correct part.

 

I bought 69749-89101 and it did NOT work for my 2000 Tacoma, it doesn't fit snug enough in the inner door sheet metal and pops out as soon as you pull the rod to open the door.

Will try 69759-20070 and 69759-20060 after I get them from the dealer (fingers crossed). Very helpful as I hadn't been able to find the right part number using the diagrams.

 

In the offchance this is useful to someone, 69749-89101 is actually the right part number for the rod support clip, which goes midway between the interior latch and the lock. The important part is to press them in, I didn’t until just now and they fall out. But if you push on them they will seat with a very satisfying click. And I doubt they will come out unscathed, I broke both of my originals while trying to clean around them.

 

I do this repair quite often the clips get old and brittle and break so easy.
