I never had a clock there so I just hang my CB mic in it's place.

Success! The after-market radio died and I tore the dash apart (with much thanx to the sticky thread for direction). While I was at it, I popped out the clock, looked it over and found nothing obvious, so I sprayed the plug with electronics spray cleaner to clean up the connection and that did the trick.

The problem stems from the clocks prongs utilize little springs to keep tension and contact with the dash side of the plug and the circuit board of the clock. If you open up the back side of the clock you can remove the little springs and just solider the clocks prongs straight to the board then reassemble. Fixed.

    This.
I had a crack on one of the resistors solder point (pictured) and I resoldered all 3 resistors.
    Works like a charm now.
