Diggin it....past 150 miles now. Someone that has one says it "learns" the new ECU map...kind of like Terminator...it becomes self aware!

The whine is the best part...

Read the great write up yesterday on TW re: changing differential fluids. After getting educated, went to Valvoline Instant Oil Change and had those guys do it....$50 per case. Full synthetic. Odometer was at 18K.

Called TRD again today, still no release date for CAI. Probably just pick up the Airaid and be done with it.

Let us know if you feel/dyno a difference before and after with the Volant, esp with the S/C. Not worried about the ohio snow in the intake I guess?

I'm getting 15-16 after the S/C and after the Volant CAI.

Miss the 06 same setup at 20 mpg average.

Maybe once winter gas goes away, it will get better.

Like others, I gave up waiting on TRD to put out their CAI for 2012-2013. Recent intel says they have scrapped R&D. At first, I bought the Airaid product but returned before I even installed because I thought TRD might actually produce. However, that was this past summer so enough waiting led me to the Volant product:
    http://www.volant.com/edetail.asp?ID=1187

I ordered the one with the ram air scoop, here is the final product
    [IMG]
You'll notice the nice TRD lid on the CAI, thank you to TW member "Coupe" for an awesome product. I sent Coupe the original Volant cover and he measured it and cut a new cover with TRD etched on top. Much better than the cheesy fake carbon fiber looking cover it came with:
I needed to have this lid after I saw the same lid on another member's truck. Here is another angle. The camera flash shows the blue filter but the cover is dark smoke and normally can't see through it:
    The install:
I can't estimate time to install, because I had a couple friends over and bought them Chipotle (kept the garage door open) to help me install and putz around in the garage. First off, the Volant instructions sucked. Fortunately, they were not really needed since it was a basic install. I had the Airaid instructions handy too just for reference. The Airaid instructions were complex in comparison because more "stuff" needed moved. The only thing needing relocated on Volant was the air pump, which they conveniently built a mount on the air box. For Airaid, the pump was moved closer to the front of the truck. A couple gripes on install:
    1) I had to go to AutoZone and get a length of heater hose to replace the factory section. Why? As designed, the original hose, plus elbow plus adapter hose did not work without major kinkage. You can see in the photos the close up of new hose, new elbow and added hose clamps:
    2) Had issues with the rubber grommet fitment on the new mount for air pump. Just does not sit quite right, but I'll keep an eye on it to make sure it does not get unseated.
    3) Minor gripe - the new hardware to mount the MAF sensor...the new screws (longer) were mismatched. Poor attention to detail.

After install, did several engine cycles to ensure no CEL's. Have driven about 100 miles and all is well.

    Butt dyno:
It is not really louder (I've already got S/C plus TRD exhaust so it was loud to begin with), but it does sound better. Opened it up on the highway and, with zero scientific evidence, it feels more responsive. After taking out the OEM intake, the air flow channels just seem so much larger on the Volant (plus I've got the scoop on the front).

    Summary:
It was worth the cost. Especially like the fact that the engine bay is a lot cleaner now. Performance feels better so far. We'll see how and if it affects gas mileage.
