Have you had any problems with CEL P0101? I've cleared it a few time with no luck. Seems to be a MAF voltage problem. Kinda weird. Haven't installed the calibrater yet. Not sure if that will help.

There maybe a few of us who decided not to install who might be interested in selling. If not, I know @TIM.TRDSparks said he can still do a smoking deal for anyone who missed the GB.

I did before but it only happened after I put the K&N filter in. I thought it was due to the oil from the filter. I put the stock filter back in and cleaned the MAF and it went away. It happened once more after I installed the AFE intake but I cleared it and it never returned. I'll update if it comes back again.

I think @TacoCat had that code before as well but not sure if it came back on since the TRD flash shenanigans he went through (as did I).

    @o0opackersfano0o

Since you're a Toyota tech, riddle me this... If a customer requests a TRD flash, but the ECU reports that it already has that calibration ID, can you flash it anyway?

If you read back in the thread, @TacoCat and I had trouble with the Bully Dog tuner and though the tune didn't work for us, the tuner seems to use the same calibration ID as the official TRD flash does. Each of us went to the dealer to request the TRD flash and they said the flash couldn't be done because the ECU reports it already has that calibration. But somehow after leaving the dealer, our trucks mysteriously run perfect when they didn't run perfect before the trip to the dealer.

    Any idea?

yea I did. After I cleaned my MAF sensor (sprayed it with MAF cleaner and let air dry) I didnt have any issues. I would get this code roughly once a winter, when all the salt/brine on the roads would dirty the little glass mercury vile. Since I moved to GA where they dont salt the roads like in TN/KY, ive had no problems

I have no idea. When u hook up the scan tool and perform a health check it will pop up that there's an update for the ecu for the supercharger reflash. If it already has that flash then nothing will pop up. I would have to see what it says after the bully dog has been installed. The only thing I can think of is that the bully dog reflashs the ecu but doesn't reset all the parameters. Like short trim and long trim fuel. And once u hook the Toyota scan tool up it resets it all and runs like it should. Not positive tho. Just my guess. I just ordered the magnuson charger with out the tuner lol.

I was thinking that may be the case too. On my Autel Maxisys there is an option in the Toyota-specific section something to the effect of "reset ecu" or something. I never tried that option because I assumed a re-flash would do that. Also I had a couple of P0101 codes along the way that I cleared and I assumed clearing the check engine light would also reset fuel trims, freeze frame data and all of that as it does on most other makes. Maybe these Toyotas are different.

I drove the truck again this morning and got a little deeper into the throttle. The AFR dipped down close to 11:1 and the truck moved like a scalded ape, so I think my rig is running as it should now. I'm not so much in it for the speed because I usually drive like a grandpa, but its nice to know that the truck will move if I ask it to. Towing a small travel trailer should be a breeze.

@o0opackersfano0o Do you use the Mongoose scanners at the dealer or do you have something else? I'm considering picking up a Mongoose and just paying for a Techstream subscription as needed. It would be nice to hear from a Toyota tech that the Mongoose in fact does everything needed. If you've used the Mongoose, are there any limitations to it?

Excellent. Thank you, my friend. Do you have any tips on how to get one without paying the $495 price tag?

I also had the P0101. I got it twice in the first few days after the install of the SC. When I got it installed, Daniel couldn't get the bully dog to work (go figure!) even though he had used it before. It turned out to be the file name issue that was discussed a while back. I figured it out later that weekend and installed the tune to the ECU. That was when I got the codes. After cleaning the MAF and resetting the code, it came back up a couple days later. I cleared the code, and it never came back. I had even ordered a new MAF thinking it could be going bad. So now I have a new MAF in my garage in case anything happens to this one.
I was thinking this could be the case.
Wondering the same. I plan on sticking with Toyota for a long time, and wonder if this would be a good investment. Is the mongoose j2534 the correct cable? And can it (the official cable, not cheap knock off) be obtained for less than $480? Group buy perhaps? :fingerscrossed: also does this cable only do Toyota? My wife has a Honda, and it would be cool to be able to use on both vehicles.

There is a different Mongoose cable for Honda I think.

Group buy on the Mongoose I would definitely be IN. Put me at the top of the list!

Too bad they aren't universal, but that would mean less profits I suppose.
Email sent to drewtech inquiring about possible GB potential.
Anybody know any other official resellers? I don't want this knockoff junk. Too risky for me.

Question for @loginfailed and @TacoCat - did you guys disconnect the battery after flashing the ECU, or was it connected the whole time?

I didn't experience any issues but I had the battery disconnected during the install and after the flash, and so the ECU had to re-learn its parameters. Plugging into the Techstream at the dealer may have done the same "soft reset" so your problems were solved. I think ooopackersfanooo might be onto something.
