I "uninstalled", but it still showed up to Toyota when I tried getting the TRD flash.
I believe he is an FJ. 07 IIRC.

Yes 07 fj. I tried uninstalling it too before the sc was installed and it didn't work. Gadget says I have to return to stock ecu...

How did you uninstall it? Through the download tune map and select return to stock or uninstall gt from main menu? I did the first one.

If the uninstall GT option doesn't put the actual stock tune back, another option is replace the ECU. I've actually considered doing this myself to remove all doubt.

    Same here.

Ha fuck that's another expense and I've read some interesting stories about some having to do that. I think at that point I'm stripping the parts and selling before I blow this shit up.

I tried using the uninstall gt option on the BD, but when I went to toyota, they said I had the TRD tune already installed (BD cloaks itself as the same tune ID I think).

Yes the ecu cal id shows it has the trd tune. From my pre sc bd tuning experience I don't think you can go back to stock which is different from what we were told. When you uninstalled it did you notice a difference while driving to the dealer?

ECU is about $900. I wonder if ECUs can be repurposed from one VIN to another. I've seen a few pop up on eBay for decent prices.

EDIT: also if you sell off everything and the Bully Dog tune is still in there you may be buying an ECU anyway.

I've read problems with new ecu as they have to coded to the vin, I don't know much will have to do some research.

Selling off meaning parting out fj but leave sc installed...

Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
Sounds like you have at least a couple of options. Start with going to get the ecu flashed by the dealer. That way you know its all safe. Then look at getting the UCON. Its pricey but worth it if you are willing to start spending supercharger amounts of money. It will give you more potential, safety, options... I am happy I skipped the BD and went right to the UCON. Plus I'd rather have support from URD who has been working on this specific motor for +10 years now.

Oh I thought you meant keeping the truck but removing the charger.

You can code the VIN to the new ECU with Techstream. I'm not sure if you can change a VIN on a used ECU from the donor VIN to your VIN or if the ECU is stuck to its original VIN.

You can program the vin to a ecu. The only probly I've run into is linking the immobilizer ecu to the car ecu. Which takes some times and a pain. But I have never unflashed an ecu. I don't think it's possible with Toyota. But I have also never tried it. But I've heard horror stories about the bully dog flash messing up the ecu. That's why I'm doing the trd flash. Once I flash mine I'll see if there's an option to put it back to stock. Won't be till like spring tho.

Well eBay has a few fjc ecu's for around 150$. That cheaper than 700 from sparks. Going to move the o2 to before the cats and make sure the bypass actuator is working this weekend. If I'm still running lean on closed loop going to be talking to gadget more and call the dealer to see how much reprogramming the ecu is and if possible to not load the trd flash while sc is installed... fuck bd and their carb compliant shit

Another great bd feature, those afr numbers are bs. Need wideband gauge and o2 to measure AFR.

Update on reservoir leak: upper hose connection stopped leaking after reasembling with rtv. Bottom hose connection still had very slow leak so I added a second hose clamp and that seems to have stopped it.

Will the TRD flash work alright with AFE CAI, 2.85 pulley and AEM 320 fuel pump? I was going to do the BD tune but have to choose between the BD and the 2.85 since they don't work together.
