Yes the TRD reflash will work and is a better option it seems than the BD. Only thing different is I have a 2.8 and DW 250 (soon to be 320).

I think you'll be pushing the limits of the flash. Hope you have a afr gauge.

What other mods do you have that is requiring the 320? I'm gonna be ordering the kit soon, would rather know now if I should go bigger.

Thinking about it just for a clean slate to get rid of the doggy poo smell. Going to see what kind of things the Mongoose can do first.

I'm going to run the 2.85 pulley with the trd flash. And get a boost and a/f gauge. Along with the oem fuel pressure regulator mod. If it's rich enough I'll put a smaller pulley on.

Didn't have time to change the o2 location today. Changed oil, verified actuator is working properly. Pulled out a plug to see how it's running. Look clean to me no indication of running hot (lean).

    Dis.

Boost gauge is really just for fun unless you have a vacuum scale on it too.

Two most important gauges IMO are AFR & fuel pressure.

Nothing I have currently is really requiring the 320, but I'm preparing the fuel system for future upgrades (tunes, smaller pulley, etc). Infrastructure comes first.

    Good plan.

After further thought, I'm really interested to know the ECU values with the BD tune vs TRD reflash vs a unmolested ECU.

    Nice.

    +1

I think the vacuum scale is an excellent tool for trying to tame the heavy foot mod.

Boost gauge and AFR together can also be helpful. Say you have boost showing up and AFR is still 14.7. My truck can sometimes have 5psi while the ECU is still in closed loop and still maintaining 14.7. I think it should be adding fuel as soon as it sees boost. Once the ECU goes into open loop the fuel gets dumped in and from there AFR is below 12.

I wonder if the MAP ECU 3 can be tuned to trigger open loop dependent on boost. Or if you can make it add fuel in closed loop dependent on boost.

I'd like to have 3 ECUs and run comparison tests between them. One unmolested TRD flashed, One 2.85 BD flashed, and one completely unmolested non-supercharged one combined with a MAP ECU 3 (Or UCON).

I too would like open loop to come in quicker as well, I wonder if that can even be accomplished.. I'll post the question on the group buy thread

Im no tuning guru, but I don't think it's normal to have 5psi without enrichment. Maybe it's normal depending on RPM and load. Maybe not. I would need to ask someone more savvy with tuning. To my limited knowledge, 14.7 seems too (edit) LEAN for 5psi. This is how mine works though.

I know you have your gauges in now. Have you noticed any boost in closed loop while the AFR is still at 14.7?

Thanks, some of us are trying to get a GB going on the Mongoose cable. Fully aware of the Techstream subscription.

That's how it's designed to work from what I've been reading. I'm going to buy the urd afr cal, its only 250 and you are able to adjust the afr in closed loop with reference to boost. It has a map sensor to measure vacuum/boost.

I've considered the AFR Calibrator. That is pretty much exactly what you need to smooth out the transition between open and closed loop.

There is also Map ECU 3 w/ AFR Sensor Adjust module. The MAP ECU 3 gives a LOT more capability.

I'll have to check when I arrive home from work. I don't remember off hand.

Yessir. Between the Mongoose and MAP ECU 3, I think we'll observe and learn a lot, especially between the different ECU configurations.

    You work night shift?

I want to get my hands on that Mongoose asap (<-sounds dirty, I know) and the MAP ECU 3 is very tempting.

Not night shift necessarily. Just unexpectedly 16 hour days for the past week including this weekend. Looks like it'll likely stay that way for the next 60.

If the Mongoose GB remains stagnant for the next couple of weeks, I might just suck it up and buy the damn thing. I could really use it for a number of reasons.

As much as I want the MAP ECU 3, I can afford to be more patient before buying it. It's a heck of a lot more expensive when it's all said and done, although well worth it IMO. I'm also considering going to Kozmic to see what they can do for me as far as tuning goes.

I hope you're racking up some OT pay then! Sounds like when you get home you need to be sleeping not messing around with the truck!

    Same here on the Mongoose.

Let me know what you find out with Kozmic. The MAP ECU would be a lot more attractive to me if I knew I have someone to get it straight for me after I install it. Plus I barely have time to mess with the truck, lately. I'm just now this morning getting a chance to adjust the door on my new shell so it closes right and I also need to wire up the little dome light and the brake light. The installer was telling me how he was going to run the wiring :crazy: so I told him I would do it later. He wanted to route the cable through my bed storage pocket, like this LMAO:

I asked Magnuson for their suggestions on AFR, boost, in relation to RPMs when the SC is installed. They sent me this Dyno result:

As you can see, even at around 5 lbs of boost, AFR stays at 14, and shortly after 4000 rpms is when the AFR starts to drop.

So far my installation seems to be fine. But still going to take it in for a dyno test in a couple weeks to ensure I'm getting similar AFR ratios and timing.
