Or you can purchase soft shackles. That is the route that I took. I still have some metal shackles from a previous purchase but I like the idea of a soft shackle flying at my head if something goes catastrophically wrong rather than a large chunk of metal.

Totally true. I have one ARB soft shackle that I keep in my truck. The main use it gets is hooking up to vehicles that don't have somewhere reasonable to slip one of the D-rings through, and to hook up to the roll bar of my buddies sxs's when they roll over.
You really don't want to use a soft shackle around any abrasive mounting location, like the safety chain mount on the hitch receiver (which I see too many people do). Slipping a soft shackle into the receiver, around the hitch pin is ok most of the time, but if it's not a straight pull and you're tugging from the side, you're dragging it along the edge of the receiver tube.

Soft shackles are great, they're just a different tool.

Agreed. With this purchase of the tow strap through this group buy I will have multiple straps on board. The soft shackles will be perfect for joining those two straps! Definitely no sharp edges there!

Found out the shackle points on my bumper are actually 7/8" so I'm back in. Just have to decide on what to get.

They definitely feel like a lot higher quality than the Husky straps I've been buying from Home Depot. I like that they include a set of the soft shackle type things. That'll make it a lot more convenient when I grab the handlebars of my dirt bike. The little Velcro keeper straps are a nice touch also. Normally I just tie a couple of knots to take care of the slack, or use an old twist tie that came off a package from somewhere. I'll have to do my best not to lose the little velcro strap things, LOL

I am excited since I have a set of four on the way! There were two selling point for me. One was the soft shackle you described and the other was the hooks on each end have the little clasp that will keep the end of the ratchet and strap secured and I won't have to worry about the damn things falling off if I momentarily loosen the tension when trying to ratchet everything down. Why no one else has done this before I cannot figure out.

I totally didn't even mention this, but yes! Misery loves company, and I'm so glad someone else shares my pain about this. Lol.

    All. The. Time.
I just want to adjust my strap and not have to play Circus contortionist reaching back around to reattach the hook.

I hadn’t actually seen these the first time I checked the site, but just ordered a pair to go with the recovery strap. The clip on the end sold them to me, too.

    Nothing yet :(
    Order came in!!!
Slightly disappointed because one product was not what I ordered.

    ordered:
    1x Hitch/Shackle combo
    1x 2 piece red shackles
    1x Tow Strap

I received the Tow Strap and Hitch/Shackle combo but was sent a 1 piece red shackle and not the 2 piece red shackles.
Order came Saturday but by the time I got the delivery, their support office was closed.
I left an email so we will see what happen!
Not a huge deal but I’m sure we all prefer our first delivery to be the correct delivery.

I’m new to this, it looks like the recovery strap has a working load limit that is less than the GVWR of a DCLB Tacoma. Is this only good for the short bed ones?

I am having problems with my orders also. I placed an order for 2 sets of double red shackles and only received one set. Placed another order for a set and got only one piece .

I just wanted to let you guys know,

I called my contact this morning at Supreme to bring this up, and give him a heads-up of what's happening.

He said he's going to reach out to all of the members who placed orders that they think are affected by the issue, but if you haven't been responded to by the end of the day today, to reach out directly to alex@supremesuspensions.com and they'll get you all squared away.
I was told it was an issue with their shipping program thing, and it's just the red 2 pc kits that got messed up. I guess the program left off the quantity modifier.

Hey there. I didn't see this, sorry. These aren't "my" products, but I am familiar with these figures and how they work (my business has had to deal with rigging for equipment moving in the past).
Working load is a term that is between 20-35% of the breaking strength of a piece of rigging, typically a sling (rope, web, cable). It describes the it's continuous safe load bearing capacity. If you were lifting something off the ground, you wouldn't want to lift anything heavier than the rigging's WLL. If you were strapping something down, you wouldn't want the strap exerting more than the WLL of force onto whatever you're strapping.

On a flat ground scenario (least likely for someone to actually need to use a strap, but we'll work with it here) you're not exerting nearly that much force on the strap. The vehicle rolls. Think about having to push your truck. The truck may weigh ~4400 lbs, but it's not taking you 4400 lbs of force to move it. Now in a trail recovery situation, you're obviously exerting way more force to move the truck, whether it's over rocks, or out of mud (that shit get's crazy). But you're also not trying to lift the weight of the truck off the ground. Now, trying to lift your truck with a crane? The strap is actually ok (curb weight is ~4400 lbs for these trucks)! Should you do it, no not really, lol. So when you're recovering a vehicle, the break strength is actually a more relevant number.

Something to keep in mind, I've noticed that companies like WARN, ARB, and even Factor55 don't bother to list their WLL. Everyone only lists their break strength. It's probably because it doesn't sound nearly as cool. One of the things I really liked about these guys when I met them was that they seemed really transparent about their stuff. From showing me where they fabricate/machine their parts in Baja, to talking about the un-named (contract reasons) but certified mfg for their recovery equipment. I'd chalk up them listing the WLL as part of that. Or, maybe whoever posted the info didn't realize how uncool it sounded, lol.

    Anyway, hope that helps!
