    I'm in the same boat. Thinking some variety of u-bolts securing the ARB brackets on the cross bar should work.

    It was built by a guy in California to be a soft topper rack, and was purchased by a guy here in AZ. He had issues with tearing canvas toppers, and sold it cheap. I swooped on it, and based on how strong it was, turned it into an RTT/awning rack. It was designed as a bolt-together so that it could be mass produced and shipped, but I think he gave up on that idea. I had it re-squared (his tube bending was very iffy) and relocated some of the bolt holes. Ended up welding half of it together after all, so it doesn't come apart anymore.

    I don't like bed racks that block my rear view visibility, so this one was perfect for the price. It's a b*tch on MPG, but it's perfect for keeping my RTT and awning above my head. I like that I can reach all of my gear from the sides without having to unload everything from the bed.
