I'm thinking the rails might just need some shims, but I want to see what the general concensus is and also see what BAK says

I have the F1 and it seems to have no issues latching securely. I have a shortbed.

On another note.....it rained like all hell last night and the bed was 99.5% dry.

    Bed Mat, Bak Revolver Tonneau,
Finally took off the bulkhead weather strip and gave the seams the heat gun treatment. It stood up to our Pacific Northwest rain storm today. A few drops here and there.

One issue I had was the driver's side rail would stick in the closed state when unlatched. I called Bak and they are sending me out replacement rails.

I put some fender washers between the brackets and the truck bed to get mine to fit better.

Just loosen the knob and slid it up, then down to lock the bar in place.

Overall the install went well, but darn near didn't get started.

I stripped one of the screws in the factory rail of my 2016 tacoma. It was horrible. I tried bigger bits, the rubber band trick, blue locktite, super glue. I almost made a flat head slit with my hacksaw in the head of the screw.

Finally, I just went to "Wallyworld Gus", to get a screw extractor kit. It worked, but man was I sweatin' bullets.

The only other hang up was one of the bolts that goes through the top that gets the washers, and the knob on the end of it. It wouldn't feed through the stainless steel plate no matter how much I readjusted the cover. The hole was drilled out in a weird way. I didn't want to, but I took the drill out, and skimmed some of the inside of the hole away. Note: I did not change the size of the hole in top, I just allained the top with the bottom just enough to get the bolt through the plate.

    Man what a freakin pain...

Other issues I have so far:

The bed has wiggle room, I'd like it to be tighter, but it is secure.

The back will latch in place if I allow it to drop all the way down, but it will not latch at the moment if I set it down softly. Instead, I have to push it down to latch it.

Drainage tubes did not come with plastic inserts to fit the tiny holes in my truck bed.

Pole arm catch is very flimsy. Its not a matter of will it break, its a matter of when.

I don't like modifying/fabricating crap to make it fit...thats a big stinkin boo from me!

Anyway...nice cover. I'm sure it needs a little settling time before smoothing out a bit evidence to the seals rolling under stuff if I lift it up.

Looks nice, feels solid, have full use of factory rails which is nice.

    Ya, guess overall I'm happy.

I feel your pain! Same thing happened to me and was finally able to remove it with an extractor. The install was straight forward. I'm pretty happy with the F1.

Broccoli, try not to strip the screws.

    Ya...what he said!

Broccoli, some of these factory screws are garbage, and some are torked down pretty good. Be careful, and you should be fine.

The only places water will be leaking in will be through the gaps on each side of the bulkhead, the tubes where it's supposed to go, and the tailgate.

There's not a lot you can do about the tailgate, but make sure you put the square foam rubber seals on each side of the bulkhead.

I'm going to look at getting some plastic ends from the hardware store to fit into the tiny holes in my bed, so that my drainage tubes will actually be useful.

I refuse to drill through the plastic bed liner of my brand new truck.

In my opinion, Bak got really lazy with this. They should have included connectors or something. Otherwise, the tubes drain water into your truck bed, and defeat the purpose.

Drain tube connectors: finally made it to HD to pick up the parts, the brass connectors were about $5 each. They fit the drain tube perfectly snug and the barb end fits in the bed holes perfect as well.. now just to figure out how to handle the bed mat situation. ..

    Edit: spelling

Anything I need to do when I get them to keep them from coming out? Will they? Is the fit really tight?

@MightyLordRay the fit is nice and tight on the drain tube end. On the barb end it fits a tad loose, but with the length of the drain tube, it keeps it all in place. If you wanted it to fit very snug in the bed I supposed you can wrap with some teflon tape maybe? Just give it a shot, it's very simple, i doubt you'll have any problems at all.
