    example:

lets say the first switchback has orange wire. plug a switch to that switchback.

plug an accesory to the positive lead to the orange wire at the harness coming out of the fuse box inside the engine bay. place your ground somewhere on the frame of the vehicle.

that switch will control that accesory.

its alll color coded. match your colors to your accesories and your switchback wiring.

I think I get it now: switchback is literal, each plug in your picture physically plugs into the back of a switch. They share a common power wire (red), ground (black) wire and illumination (green?) wire that jumps from one switchback to the next, so that there is only one of each of those to run from the fuse box to the dash, rather than 6 power wires, 6 ground wires, etc...

Is $30 for the switchbacks a discount price? I already have one of Iggy's switch panels and am no longer looking to get the fuse panel but I DO want a set of the switchbacks if I can get those by themselves

I'm trying to make sense of this. I understand the switchback but am a little cloudy on the switch wire. I need to see the dumbed down picture, wiring diagrams just hurt my head. Something about where the power wire from the switch connects doesn't seem right in this diagram. One of those holes is for the relay. What needs to be fixed in this picture?

    Hmm..

You won't have to ground the switch separately. The switchbacks will ground your switches.

    Also,

See the nut where the battery hooks up?

They'll be another one for the ground.

It looks like the black wiring harness is used to plug the accesories.

Let me find some pictures. I can use to photo shop comments and arrows.

it's gonna take awhile, and by awhile I mean a few days.

I'll be on the road tomorrow, and this weekend I'll be working on my camry. The AC went out.

I'll be on my phone and away from a desktop.

Yeah you have the right idea. A single power wire provides power to the switches as a whole unit. A single ground wire grounds the switches as a unit. This is because they are linked together (and I don't know the proper terminology because my wiring is beginner at best) via jumper wires at respective switch terminals. Then the designated color coded wires go from the relays to EACH respective switch. Other wires from the fuse box also run from the relays to your accessories.

There might be a separate ground for the switch LED's but im not sure. I haven't looked at my OTRATTW diagrams since the day I installed my lone 2 switches lol.

Probably sacrilegious but there is a great writeup on the whole thing on Jeep Forum.

So both circuits on the fuse box are bussed (in the pic I posted only the power is bussed), meaning that group of ground wires coming out of the box would only be 1 wire going to the switchbacks. In my research I found this fuse/relay box has several variations of what is bussed... This was the only picture of the back of the thing after it was wired that I could find.

And I found it on a Jeep forum... o_O

Lol. .this box can be wired in sooo many ways.

I contacted tacoma pros. They will provide pictures of wiring so I can use to explain using an actual box you are getting.

The kit comes with a mount that is close to that but I wanted a second plate to install blue sea fuse block, dual battery isolator and 100amp resettable fuse. Plan to get winch,HD Power inverter, solar panel, air compressor ,.............just need more room for future mods.
