Going out on a limb here...
Do they accept payment plans? since the tents all wont be ready when the group buy hits??
or will they all be ready to be shipped out right when you tell everyone to buy...??

Your right they come with the annex just depends if the tent is extended or not to cover your ladder so you get wet in the rain or not.

Man, really wanna jump in on this, was about to, now having 2nd thoughts. I have wanted a RTT for a while now. Going on a 3 week road trip this summer and thought it would be perfect.

More and more researching I do, the more I read it may be more of a fad, and they are kinda like a boat, greatest day is the day you buy it and the day you sell it. The idea seems amazing, but reading from a few who ended up selling and buying a high end ground tent, and there pro vs con list of the RTT, I can defiantly see there con sides.

Anyone have imput from personal experience? There points were things like, vehical has to be perfectly level and its hard to find a spot big and flat, there heavy, 150lbs vs light weight ground tent, cold/hot being in the air, no ground for insulation, large to store when not in use, must pack up to drive the vehical, even a short distance just to return to the same spot, and other small points.

Pros were, up off the ground, not having to pack everything up for each move to a new spot, just fold it up and move on.

Don't have personal experience with RTT as I'm on this list to get one, but I have gone through the same analysis. As for level ground, this was one of my reasons where the RTT was better. It seems easier to put a block or rock under the truck to level it. With a ground tent, you are S.O.L. Also, finding a clear flat rock-free spot for a ground tent isn't that easy in the wild. Campground, sure, but I don't think one gets an OR 4x4 to go to the campground all the time. The cost, size, and weight are definitely cons, though. Just my two cents and my thoughts on why I want one. Good luck, whichever way you decide.

One of the biggest points in favor, that I forgot to mention: sleeping on an actual mattress/bed. The comfort level is a huge factor for me. :)

There aren't really any cons to owning an RTT...

^^ Hmmm weight and drag (aerodynamic) but I'm willing to compromise for what I need.

My Dakar leafs ride so much better with loaded weight :)

And not much drag (if any) with my CBI bed bars.

Takes me 4 mins to set up my CVT. Took 8 mins with an REI basecamp 6

I'm in for the Mount Shasta Extended Pioneer, the non stargazer version. I'm willing to wait.

    Pros:
Safer, more comfortable, warmer (the ground is not an insulator), dryer, roomier, can camp anywhere no need to find a flat spot to put a tent
    Cons:
Gotta pack up everyday (not a big deal if you're nomadic like me and moving to a new site every night), set up at home if you packed up in the rain so it can dry out, average of 8 people will stop and ask about it if you set up in a campground so your dinner gets cold and your campfire dies while you chat
