The FJ looks AWESOME! I'm trying to see what else it would even need and I can't really see anything :)

Can anyone scan and share the Elka front coilover install instructions? I am doing my install tomorrow and didn’t think to confirm I actually have instructions in my box until today! Turns out I don’t.

I know the GB is closed, but for those who went in on Front Coilovers, what's your impression after some seat time?

Not too much out about these on tacos and the alluminum body is really pulling me in.

I’ve not owned another set of CO’s aside from stock but given the impression of these, the ride quality on and off road, the over engineered parts and components - I’m a believer. Several guys I consider my go-to for off-road experience locally were really impressed with the sturdiness of the COs and rear shocks. Those that have been with me off-road also said the shocks perform really well both on and off.

As I've mentioned in another thread, it's a night and day difference between the stock TRD Offroad suspension and the Elka's. The quality of the shocks are impressive.

On road handling is taught (firm) but not harsh at all. Gravel washboard roads are a breeze. Trail handling is great, no bouncing coming off rocks, just feels planted.
FYI... I have the resi's with adjusters.

    Cheers

Do have any additional weight to go with the 700lb springs?

    Appreciate the feedback

    Thank you!

I have a Mobtown steel front skid and Apex sliders. I'm going to add a SSO low profile front bumper with a winch as soon as the bumper gets delivered.
That said, I had a long talk with Matt at Headstrong. In our conversation he mentioned that Elka designed the front shocks for the Tacoma initially around the 700lb springs and suggested that's what I should go with (that was before the sliders). So that's what I did, and it's worked out great.

    Cheers

Does anyone have additional feedback on level 1 or level 2 Elka suspensions through this GB, I didn't have much luck searching through the forums.

    Thanks in advance!

I have about 4k miles on mine and so far they've been great. They're well controled over dirt/gravel/washboard roads and a delight on pavement (firm, but not harsh in any way).
I was able to do a few trails several weeks ago and again, thoroughly impressed with their performance.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks for the response! It is always helpful...
What setup did you end up going with (level 1, 2 with or with adjuster)?
Did you add a leaf or replace oe leaf packs?

I have the level 2 with adjusters. I told Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road what type of driving I do and Elka built them to that spec. I all honesty, I haven't even touched their preset adjustments. They are spot on for me.

I have the 3 leaf add-a-leaf, and so far I really like them. I considered the OME packs, but with all the reports of squeaking and pre-mature sagging, I decided to go with the AAL's. I figured if the AAL's weren't up to the task, I'd only be out $200, then I'd possibly try the ICON packs or custom. So far I have no regrets about any of my decisions.

    Cheers

Also note, they're aluminum bodied so no real issues with salt/corrosion.
I see you're in VA Beach, so probably no road salt, but it might be of some insurance against sea salt....
    Just a thought.

    Cheers
