    Perhaps the designer can add a small grooved channel along the bottom circumference of the shift knob. This channel will then allow the end user, second gen only, to pull the shift boot up over the bottom of the knob. Then by using a wire, clip, string, paracord, leather cord, etc, they can tighten the boot making sure the cord snugs into the channel, thereby keeping the boot in place. I think it could look cool if done properly.
