Does anyone have a set of these dust covers for the OEM carrier bearing laying around after install of the poly bearing? If so, I'd like to buy them from you.

My dust covers were omitted form the first time I had my driveshaft re-tubed years ago and never had any problems from not having it.

I was wondering about that, but wasn't sure. Thanks for the info.

I installed them with the poly carrier bearing, then found out that I wasn't supposed to. Cutting them off was easier then taking it all back apart.

Hey I am in the process of installing, how did y'all fully seat the iedls bearing and the slip yoke after? I don't want to hammer the slip yoke too much

@MTopp Torque the nut for the slip yoke to 134ft lbs according to my haines manual. Then back off one turn and torque to 53ft lbs. Another poster here said 155 & 55 respectively.

So I had gnarly vibes during take off, and at pretty much all ranges of speed. I replaced the CB with a new OEM CB about a year ago and it was already trashed. I looked up solutions to the extreme wear on the part and found this thread. Everyone seemed to have generally positive reviews so I took the part to a shop and had them put it on.
    IMG_3237-1.jpg IMG_3238-1.jpg IMG_3236.jpg

    Results:
    Vibes during takeoff - eliminated
    vibes at high speed (60mph - 90mph) - eliminated
    vibes during deceleration - moderate
Problem* Vibes from 32mph - 45mph - The vibes are so harsh they shake the entire truck.

Overall I think I'm happy because this part should last longer than the stock rubber CB. However once this bearing goes out I will be making the transition to a single shaft to eliminate the carrier bearing all together.

    Total price
    $125 - CB
    $140 - Labor

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but seeing as @Seanstacoma has an AC, couldn't he also flip the CB up? Like how @MonkeyProof has his.

@PerfectTekniq I'm really hoping that someone doesn't come in here and say I did it wrong. I'm just a poor college kid! I don't have another $140 to flip it around :help:

That being said, if anyone has any other ideas on how to help the vibes at 32 - 45 mph, it would be greatly appreciated!

No need to flip it around.

Honestly, you could do it yourself if you're comfortable with it. You just need to make spacers. See below. Maybe it will help you.

I have done a lot of cool little things to this truck, but I don't want to mess with super important components like this. I don't have the tools to do this big of a job. Plus I always think I'm going to break something haha

Find someone in your area that can help for a case of beer.

    I haven't done the install yet but so flip your bearing;
    Support bearing/drive line.
    Take out bolts.
    Rotate bearing 180 degrees.
Add spacers as needed (Home Depot carries what you need)
    Rebolt bearing to frame

I'd like someone else's input for what I suggested above. I don't see a problem just rotating the bearing. However, I'm not 100% sure it wont cause any other issues.

It seems to be easy enough to do where if it doesn't work you could revert back to the original setup.

The rotating part is very easy. See what Perfect Tecniq said. You just support the driveshaft in bolt, rotate, bolt back up with spacers. You'll need longer bolts though.

Also I posted a video in this thread about driveshaft angles and why you have vibrations. It's all about the angles. You need to have them all correct.

I totally spaced on the longer bolts. Thank you.
