Can confirm that it made a whistling go away AFTER adding rubber strips, between rack and deflector, 2nd gen.

I knew someone made it go away AFTER adding rubber strips.

@BryanFRO , if we didn't get the rubber strips and get whistling, can we request the strips?

got mine installed last night. the punch made things so much easier. the hole i cut with the hole saw that ripped clear through the ditch molding looks ok after the rack is secured on top. i just wish i was more patient and waited ordered the punch from the start.

i can't comment on whistling as i have only driven a few miles with the rack and it was windy last night so hard to tell.

Just installed the rails. Had to buy new bolts due to the ones from Front Runner being too short. I called Front Runner and was told "those are the correct bolts" and talked to an installer. I was told to just wiggle the rails around and eventually it goes in. I explained to them that the height of the spacer + lock washer + washer + rail is over 35mm, and no amount of "wiggling" would make it work. Ultimately had to buy 40mm bolts to get the front and back installed (the center is fine) A little pissed off with their customer service team at the moment.

The hole punch was invaluable and made the job easier. I still have a gap around my spacers though?

The only other problem I have is the middle portion of the rack touches the paint, and no amount of pushed and adjusting will make it work.

i think a small gap around the spacers is normal. if there was no wiggle room it would be very difficult to get the ditch moldings to fit - you would have to get the holes punched dead on. hopefully, the silicone will keep the water out. i'm in CA so i'm not to worried about the holes but if i was still in Seattle i would be more worried about the gaps.

I live in FL. I'm thinking about putting a bead of silicone around the gaps. It may not matter though. The ditch molding wasn't in there very tight anyway. The silicone bead around the base might be enough to keep water out as long as the top spacer is completely covered.

Got it fully installed. The instructions were a bit worthless at some points.

Took it for a test drive and the only whistle I have is between 30-35mph. Had it up to 65 and no whistle. I'll test it on the highway tomorrow.

my ditch moldings are kinda loose at some points cuz i got the holes either too close or too far from each other....i actually used a 18mm hole punch (eBay sent me the wrong punch) so the holes are snug..im guessing since some guys aren't running the ditch moldings then they should be find with gaps or being a little loose..please correct me if I'm wrong so i can silicone the crap out of them

I called and was told the same thing but I actually got it to not touch without the spacers. it took a few times of just working with the bolts and rail but its possible....(i had to stand on my slider and put my foot on the wall to get leverage to shove the rail inwards)

    The moldings are cosmetic.

I had the same issue with the middle mounting points contacting the paint. The problem is the middle spacers are to short, if I would have been sent all tall spacers I don't think I would have ran into this issue. I was able to gain some clearance by adding 2 washers to the middle spacers on both the passenger and driver side. I'll post a pic of the clearance I now have.

The rack is now fully installed and looks awesome! Cant wait for my shell to get here to throw on the canopy rack.

I originally had an issue but Frontrunner shipped taller spaces within a few days of me notifying them of the issue. Taller spacers fixed it!

They shouldn't be. The middle are shorter than the front and back.

Front and back are close to 3/4" tall, the middle should be 1/2" (if I remember correctly, might be wrong).
