Looking good bud, such a clean install, like it came off the assembly line!

Just installed my PLUS kit today. Been sitting on it for days now. lol

Anyhow, gave me a good excuse to guy buy a $12 riveter. I will point out the 2005-2012 Tacomas install instructions vary slightly from 2013-2015. There's a slight bit of confusion/contradiction between Step #2 and Step #4. I called Redline and they answered quickly and got me straightened out before I began drilling. Best input I can give folks with 2013+ models is follow what Step 2 says (not step 4) and do it like the photo on Page 4 of the instructions when mounting the upper brackets. Sounds like the 2005-2012 hood is built differently than the 2013-2015 hood and therefore how they are located on the structure of the hood is different.

They work well though! Once I unlatch the hood I only need to manually lift it about 3" or so before the struts take over. That being said you have to SHUT the hood with some intent. It will not shut itself. You need to give it some force in order for it to latch completely flush.

I followed more of step #3 than #4 as well. On a 2013 there's no way to get approximately 1 3/4" from the hood edge and aligned with the inside edge of the hood frame. The 13+ hood frame looks wider than on the 05-12. I tried finding a number for Redline Tuning both on the instructions/packaging and on the internet, but I had no luck so I just went with my instincts of 20+ years of metal work. I laid out and installed the fender mount bracket per instructions in step #9-14. Then taped the hood mount bracket in place at the 1-3/4" from Hood Edge it looked like the picture from step #15 on page 4 that Step #3 referenced so I lowered the hood to make sure that the bracket would clear everything and looked in line with the bottom mount bracket. It did, so that is where it got installed. Works like a charm.

Also, I might add, that I think I recall that someone posted on here that the stock prop rod would still work with the struts installed. Mine does not it is about 1-1/2" too long now. For what it's worth I installed the mount brackets at the locations called out for in the Instructions: Top 16-1/4" for 13+ from the upper edge of the hood hinge to span the hood frame crush rib 1-3/4" from the hood edge and 8-1/4 " from the fender mount bolt. I'm thinking that on the 05-12 with the bracket mounted at 16" the rod will still work, but on the 13+ with it installed at 16-1/4" you lose a little bit of height. This is fine with me , because now I don't have to stretch to reach the hood to close it.

Mine does not. The hood goes just a little bit out of reach. I yank it out, don't need anything else rattling around in there. :D

See, like I said, my hood no longer goes up high enough to install the prop rod. Yours goes too high.

Isn't that the whole idea of getting the struts, so you don't need to use the hood prop anymore? Its more of a pain and in the way anyways. :notsure:

Of course it's not an issue. I was merely pointing out the differences between the 05-12 install and the 13+ install.

My hood prop won't fit anymore either. The hood doesn't raise high enough with the shocks installed on my 2015.

Busy week. Forgot I ordered these. Heard a smack at the door at supper time. FedEx dude launched the package from my driveway. Won't have time to install until next weekend. Kit looks great!
