I tried install the winch in the bumper before I installed the bumper but it just wasn't working out. It was much easier to just lay the winch in the cradel and throw the bumper on then tighten down the winch after aligning up the winch holes. Not sure how his plate 1 bumper is cause I have the plate 2 but there is plenty of room to reach through and/or down from the top IMO.

Can you reach in with those cut outs shown in that picture? Or do you also need the logo cut outs?

I thought those were standard cut outs and the logo was just additional cuts.

 

you can reach in. But as far as putting on one of the bolts to mount the bumper or putting the bolts through the bottom of the cradel to secure the winch the logo helps. Those cut outs reach into a separate area and don't help with anything but messing with the winch from the top, not from the bottom.

 

Only pics I have on my phone, you can see in that pic where the bumper is primed how it is a different section.

 

What'd you paint it with? This may have been covered earlier but do these come primed? Bare metal?

 

They come primed, yes it has been discussed. Some paint it with Bedliner then several coats of spray paint on top to "seal" it since the Bedliner by itself gets nasty looking cause it is pourous and dirt, mud etc makes it look bad. I just used rustoleum semi gloss spray on mine.

(However I did do the Bedliner method on my sliders)

That helps, thanks. I think I will just make my wife do any reaching up and into the bumper for that stuff. I usually do the heavy lifting and make her do the slow, meticulous work that I don't have patience for.

this may be a stupid question, but is there such thing as a Hybrid aluminum? i figure not since its hard to bend aluminum tubing without cracking.

 

don't let Eddy know I told you this but yes.
..my full hoops are aluminum and I was right there when he bent them, easy peasy. The hybrids are just more time consuming to build period so that burns up a lot of Eddy's time on one bumper lol

 

I have a aluminum hybrid to build now
