I wasn't going to get caught with my pants down this time so if you're shopping for fogs I almost certainly have what you want on hand (unless it's Maxes that is )
Because LOOMENZ!!!!! They're gonna be sweet. There's no doubt.

Almost missed this! Here's the advisement that I recently gave to @Jnull in a sidebar, but I think that it's relevant here:

The advantage goes to the SSC2 all day in terms of distance when looking at driving or spot patterns. They also have a cool backlight! Novelty, but it's a thing. Pricing with harnesses is very comparable. If you run without a harness the SSC2s are cheaper.

Hopefully that helps a little bit anyway.

    BANG!

That was the rationale that @daveeasa is using for a set of Maxes on his HONDA ODYSSEY :bikewheelie:

I always use the "its a safety issue, don't you want to be extra safe out there"? Works well.

Drive in thick fog with her in the vehicle. Easy yes.
These are SS3 Pro’s. Imagine how much better the MAX would let you see

I live in LA. So fog won’t be here for a little bit. The pros and Max are probably overkill for me. But with the adventures we have planned in the future, I want maximum light output.

A concern I had with the maxes (and it may be stupid) is that they may be too bright for fog? I made the mistake when I was younger of having hid fog lights and they made things worse in fog and these maxes seem much brighter than the pros

Did you additionally make the mistake of installing said HID bulbs in a reflector housing designed for halogen lights?

If so, you're poised for hilarious amounts of light being reflected back at you in adverse conditions.

IDK, feel free to correct me, but at some point there's diminishing returned to more light at close range. If I had a juice cannon of light, I'd want it to throw hella downrange, rather than flood my immediate area.

Especially driving at night, where I'm trying to see deer and/or other fun hazards, I like a smooth transition from dark to light instead of a nuclear blast 50 ft in front of me.

indeed I did lol the things we do when we are young! Perhaps I’m just trying to make myself feel like the pros are more than sufficient
