You are absolutely correct. When you are cruising at 70+ mph I would never recommend that a fog light be on (or at least a fog pattern). That said, many do, and to each their own! What a good fog light will do though is fill out the sides better, and be very valuable in providing guiding light when conditions are adverse or when speeds are a little bit slower.

One should really have something more in support of their high beams though when driving at speed (driving pattern, etc). A fog pattern would generally not be the winner there. I know that Crash would never support me in this arena, but when I am mobbing at night I turn everything on... Fogs, high beams, driving lights, the works.
I promise... The pros are sufficient. Epic upgrade over stock. If you want to ball out, and have the best out there then the MAX is serious business. Do you need the max? Probably not. Will I have them on my rig? Welllllll..... Yeah.
Your signature is exceptionally ironic, but I digress...

So, what is your advice for a-pillar lights? I currently have a set of BD squadron sports in my bumper that are moving up to that spot when I order some SS3 amber fogs (and 42" driving bar) from you. What lens pattern is the best? I'm trying to fill in the bits on the front/side of the trail/road.

You're moving a set of Squad Sports up to the A-Pillar AND You will have a light bar in an only driving pattern. Since you will not have any combo/width support from the light bar I would recommend the driving/combo pattern. Aim them at the edges of where the light bar starts to fall off in terms of width and you'll be good to go. The "spot" portion of the Baja Designs light opens up at distance so you won't feel like you have the driving beam, then 2 pencil beams, and then the wide cornering part of the squadron. It'll be a clean transition.

    • TL;DR - Driving/Combo lenses given your setup
    • If you need more evidence here's a quick video I threw together a while back showing the different lens patterns with the BD lights:

I keep telling him...now that I basically gave away the winch setup to him he just needs an OnX6 to complete the look.

I mean if you're gonna do it... Might as well do it right.

I mean I have 2 LP9 pros, 2 XL80’s, 3 squadron Pros, 2 S1’s, and a 40” OnX6 Hi-Power all sitting on my work bench that will eventually find its way to the GX. I need another squadron pro. The odd number is triggering me rn.

@memario1214 what is the msrp on the SS3 lenses/optic? Also, how easy/quick are they to replace? Thinking of getting the yellow fogs for fog season, and switching to the clear SAE driving lenses for summer.

MSRP is $30ea and to swap them it’s 4x T10 Torx screws. They are loctite-d in so I recommend heating them up if you want to do the swap.

Also, if you’re going to plan on swapping then start with the amber light, and add the clear lenses since they use the 4000k emitters. :D

If you want to secure your place in line as far as lights go too just go ahead and place the light order, and shoot me a pm with your order number and what you’d like to add. I can just email you an invoice adjustment

Is it a bad idea to swap lenses back and forth seasonally? I don't want to compromise the seal or risk causing issues.

I mean... yes and no. The rubber seal is actually a part of the lens so if for some reason it starts to fail you just buy a new set of lenses. Given you didn’t somehow compromise the components underneath.

@memario1214 looking forward to the sell but was needing your help on the purchase.
Currently I have a 30” white S8 and a pair of Squadron SAE Fog lights in BAMF hybrid bumper.
Ordered my UpTop roof rack which has the space being put in it for one more S8... which do recommend?
also wanting to do a set of ditch lights but very torn due to lack of knowledge to get as well?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
