    18-8 or 304 will not suffer any measurable corrosion issues but the yield (bend) strength is anywhere from 50% to 70% of the strength of a 8.8 fastener depending on the source.

    I doubt the stainless bolts will shear under normal loads with the size and quantity being used assuming they are reasonably torqued. There are a few torque calculators on the web that can be used. I would use an anti-seize (lubricated) even if using stainless and treat it as a 4.6 class steel and use 80% of the value assuming it's considered a reusable fastener.

    Made use of the remaining scrap to cut myself a master set out of 3/16".

    Was taught at my first fab job to have a master set of something you make to always go back and measure against.

    Thanks for the breakdowns! I have a decent knowledge of specs and use in automotive, but am not and do not purport to be an engineer. It’s great to have someone with more intricate knowledge than just grades and treatments weigh in with functional use case and perils. I know folks are looking at their own personal experiences and choices. I’m pretty sure once these go in on mine, they’re never coming out and will only be rarely checked for corrosion and torque…maybe. Thank you again for the insight.

    OK. Sorry for the delay. I now have a cider.

    As I suspected my guessed g'ometry wasn't quite right. But I'll also say I think it will work with a larger hook. Not 3D printed of course. 20240724_204549.jpg

    Oh man, you're really wanting me to throw out my F bomb idea out the window huh :rofl:

    If people don't mind reaching farther back to open a bottle, I guess I can try cutting one out after deposits are taken. Of course after the rear portion is extended out a bit farther.

    Don't have any 3/16" left to spare.

    No, I think your idea works well. But I did promise that I would try this one - and I needed a drink anyway. One think I like about this version is that the same one works on the drivers and passenger side.

    Yep

    I'd just have to mirror mine, well the F that is.

    I have the tiniest bit of scrap I can cut out a "plain" bracket from which I need to do by Sunday (from 16 gauge).

    I intend to have examples of exactly all the exterior bracket options I will have available.

    From there, those in each batch will state what they want for their order (which is why I asked sooner than later) so I can properly nest my parts for what's needed.

    Since it's so late in the week, production for any of these can't start until Monday earliest but not until I buy steel first.

    @musicisevil Tie down, no opener
    @6H05tP3p3 Tie down, no opener
    @MagicToolbox Tie down, no opener
    @ERod27 F Bomb ?
    @NoOne F Bomb ?
    @Willy Lump Lump ?
    @bjohn041 Tie down, no opener
    @Beams37 ?

    Can y'all confirm your exterior bracket choice?

    Probably shooting myself in the foot here with offering so many but, y'all have been great in supporting me to support you all.

    Plain exterior bracket -

    Tie down bracket -

    Just keep in mind, five options is already quite a bit considering how things will be nested and cut so I'd like to not add any more.

    What I can do is completely eliminate one of the designs shown here and put another one up (if the other F bomb recently posted is desired instead).

    The goal is to limit downtime during production once production starts.
