    Well, these arrived!

    20240731_100350.jpg

And so did consumables for the next two batches when the time comes.

    20240731_173205.jpg

    Also got another assassin snail.

If you're wondering why they're called as such, this species preys on other snails.

    20240731_165620.jpg

That long tube sticking out is its mouth, and it has what would look like small teeth at the end for scraping and biting off chunks as it devours other snails live.

Aquariums are such a rewarding hobby. Before I fell off I really enjoyed my ghost knife and cichlids. I was overrun with snails that hitchhiked from the pet store at some point. Eventually I started hearing these loud cracks at night, and took me forever to realize is was the knife fish devouring them

    Haha that's awesome!

I do have a future project in mine, but I'll have to save up a bit to do it.

We have a long 15' or 17' island in the kitchen with granite top. I want to create a metal stand across from it to hold a 50 or 55 gallon tank but I would want to buy a matching granite piece to go on top of that as well. Just need to find a wood worker to build me something around it.

Anyway, I'm thinking a single Oscar or a ton of pea puffers cause I'd love to just toss a bunch of little snails in there and see the fish go at it

Right now the ramshorn population has been kept in check, but I got two more assassins cause some ramshorn are too big.

It’s been a decade but either cichlids or the knife are supposed to be brackish, but they all thrived in fresh for me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I really really wanted a puffer or two but didn’t want to deal with brackish. I did have a friend that insisted on hand feeding his oscars though… Kept doing it even after one nipped a finger tip to the bone:jpow:

There are indeed two or three small puffer species that require brackish water, but pea puffers (Dichotomyctere ocellatus or Tetraodon biocellatus) are specifically from fresh waters.

And hell no, I'd toss the food in. I'd never hand feed an Oscar...like you said that thing will bite your shit off to the bone :bananadead:

Used to have black tipped sharks and armored catfish…. My mother didn’t feed them and it was nothing but carnage when I returned. Would love a salt tank with anemones… but that’s a whole other level of commitment and finances.

Dude, there's one pet store I specifically go to whether it's for dog treats, fish, etc and it's a locally owned one that only deals with local reputable breeders.

They have a plethora of fresh water and salt water tanks, and just seeing all the coral and other stuff there has made me want to drop some serious cash cause it all looks so beautiful.

But then you get into protein skimmers, mixing your own water, and more and I'm like...naw.

Cycling one of those to begin with is on a whole different level too.

    Maybe one day.

    All done.

Since I have two other members needing side work done, I'll be cutting the remaining F bombs needed for batch 1 tomorrow.

Then onto packaging everything up in hopes to mail stuff out Saturday.

There's a pic somewhere in this thread, he'll post it up again.

But it's a 3D printed insert that provides a soft "lip" in the event that you run a strap or rope through the tie down itself.

If you only use items with hooks and the sort, you probably won't need it but if you ever want to run any sort of strap or rope through it, it'll prevent contact with the metal lip of said opening.

For those wanting a set, I'll wait until it arrives and ship said part with your stiffeners.

You got the F bombs though!

They only work for the tie downs cause they fill the open slot.

@MagicToolbox can you post those pics you took?
