Solid advice. Gives me an excuse not to install for a while. Me lazy? Noooo… I’m making sure it’s EXTRA cured !

My downfall is always impatience and applying too thick a coat

I'm just impatient AF, plus not having a dedicated area to paint anything.

Plus you're in Alaska and just got your package today; how'd it arrive?

Hey uh. Don’t know if anyone asked about this…. What’s up with the vertical vs horizontal install on the exterior bracket? I was looking at the 4wp install guide, IMG_1522.pngwhat I’m asking was the original bracket different?
But it makes me want to change the orientation of my f bomb.

The internal bracket on the discontinued set receives 4 holes, and 4 nuts welded to those holes.

Even on an industrial press brake, the discontinued set required a relief cut to prevent from any warping.

    See below.

    20240712_142037.jpg

I don't have an industrial press brake, much less do I own a CNC laser, which means I would not be able to overcome what we call in the industry the short "flange to feature" distance.

The additional holes allow for you to install the exterior bracket in a vertical position.

If you think you want or need an exterior bracket mounted in the vertical position, I can offer such a bracket after all batches are done.

Keep in mind though that I would be using the existing holes used on the internal bracket.

    OOPS

I tried my best to wipe down every set with acetone before sending them out!

Being a metal worker you get used to oils and other crap found on metal. But I can't expect anyone else to have metal working experience so I wanted to clean them up as best as I could.

At the risk of contributing to the length of this thread, let me just say; You’re a boss. I wouldn’t have even thought of wiping the parts down before painting…

You're my first Alaska customer; site I use tracks all the different places I've shipped to and I've covered many states a ton of times over.

Just can't get them all

So I wondered if they did two sets of nut welds. That’s too much work in general. Why not just add holes to the external bracket allowing it to rotate 90? That’s what I want an f-bomb 90 from the original. Take your time.IMG_1524.jpg

Think they wanted to keep just two holes on the exterior bracket for aesthetic reasons?

Probably look weird/ugly if it had four holes and only two were used.

Two sets of holes could only be as ugly as the logo. :anonymous:

Any clearance problems with these and my DIR harness? And if so, suggestions for how to adjust?

Ooh is that relay/wiring setup your product?

Wonder if just using the bolt on the left holes of the internal bracket can serve as a ground.

The left set of holes here specifically as they accept a bolt that attaches them to the L bracket on the other side.

It doesn’t need a ground. Just a secure spot for the relay. Meant for the bottom stud but zip tie is fine too.

    Ok makes sense.

The bracket doesn't get in the way of that stud, maybe just need to place a spacer on the stud so the relay can sit flush on the internal bracket while still being torqued down.

Here's a picture of the initial mock up in place.

I think the VLED bed light kit might need a ground but not sure on that.

bottom stud looks like it has enough room for my relay. I’ll wait for someone to confirm.
