Ah makes sense why the bolt was there.

Well, if the only fitment issue was due to your own use of your truck (since driver side was perfect), I'm glad to hear the new slots worked out great!

Think this is what others were looking forward to hearing as well.

Shipped out two more sets today.

Okay the patient is all closed up.
Added some sealant between the cracks.

The best part, it still functions with the Bed box / swing case!
Clean too and solves my ever widening bed sides.
Might paint the bomb later on. :)
But overall 5hrs to install incl the swing case stuff. Not bad!

now I gotta figure out the deal with the tailgate stickin go out. But that’s a future me to worry about. Fuck that guy.

    Thank you
    Kiwik!

I felt this so much. Future me is such a petty bitch!
    You didn’t do this
    You shoulda done that
Why did you eat 4 burritos in one sitting?

Judging me from the future with the gift of hindsight and knowledge of how much intestinal distress the new taco stand will cause.
    Ppppssssshhhhh that guy’s an ass…

I have the same swing case and was hoping I could make it work still! Looks like some metal underneath to shim out the lower portion and it works just fine!

I didn't even know that swingout was a thing; could just skip the exterior bracket for the stiffener on that side and simply drill two holes through the mounting plate?

Yes. I would say adding more steel makes that sheet metal there a bit more stronger.
If you really want a clean look you can cut the steel along the red line.

That is an option yes. But then the upper bolt hole goes nowhere, and the swing out hinge steel is kinda thin crap.
And the bolts they provide is crappy self tappers. So you can imagine the weight and cantilever kind of pulls the bolt thru the sheet metal hole.

The spacer you have added there, looks to be thick.

I'd offer you a strip of 3/16" with holes in it to fit in place of your mock-spacer but I think it'd be cheaper if you just got some stock yourself and drill a few holes.

Could even use HDPE instead if you don't want metal as a spacer - it's the same plastic used for cutting boards.

Should have some time to weld these later today, but knocked out the bending on these while the kiddo took a nap.

    All welded up.

    20241031_124605.jpg

Going to clean them up tonight for shipping tomorrow.

Would've finished these yesterday but for some reason, flies were out in full swing. Which is weird since the weather has been cooler but it was getting really annoying yesterday.

    I absolutely hate flies.

Working on the next 3-6 this weekend and into next week.

I've dropped 2 from the list so far for going radio silent, so we're coming close to finishing our batch!

    Otherwise, I've a few PM's going out.

Found mine in the ditch by the mail box finally lol.

Dropped them off to be de-rusted and powder coated.

As in, they just tossed them out as they drove by your box?

My house is on a hill, dead end, so Amazon is the only ones who will drive up and put things on my porch. The others either place it in a garbage bag and tie it to my mailbox, or I guess apparently throw it over the mailbox into the ditch lol. Either way I found them, and the bedding set I ordered a couple months ago.

    Good!

So far I've never had to make a claim on anything I've shipped whether it's these stiffeners, or anything else I've made for anyone.

A surprising number of those packages have gone to Canada too.

Yeah this new house is interesting. Things can make it all the way across the country completely undamaged, and everything goes to hell at the last step

    @GunthorNC

I do have to ask though since it got me a little concerned, you said the rust needs to be knocked off your parts?

    Did you snap pictures?

Just got done cutting these so they're fresh off the table.

Surface rust, from sitting in a ditch, with running water, soaking wet, for day's.

Nothing a sandblaster wouldn't take care of. If I wouldn't have found them for a few month's, then yeah, there would probably be some pitting.

TLDR: Use some primer and spray paint before you install and you'll be a'ight.
